Who should have he thanked? He got kicked off his freshman team and the next day was the 1st person in the gym and the last person to leave, for the rest of his career.

Greatest male athlete of all time and I can't think of a person that would beat him out.
    Gretzky was better. IMO.

I agree with this even though I've never watched a hockey game in my life. I've seen Gretzky's stats they're unbelievable. Besides being the all time leader in goals, he's the all time leader in assists by a very, very large margin. And since those the only two stats in Hockey....that's pretty dominate.

  • He always knew where the puck was going to be before it was there. It was unbelieveable. When he set up behind the net (his office), you were fucked. He averaged 1.92 points a game.. The next highest was 1.07.. THats incredible..
Also, take away all his goals, he is still the all time points leader.

Plus, while playing, was an all around class act.

Classier would be the word that I would use.....just ask Steve Smith.

Lol -- I love that you can count on seeing that Smith "own goal" every spring.

MJ is not even is the same stratosphere as Gretzky in terms of dominance of a sport and all around class. Plus he played basketball -- really who cares about basketball?

  • The jordan speech did suck. BUT he was absolutely incredible at what he did.

As for the gretzky thing, Gretzky by a mile

I love the fact that he is the all-time point getter on assists alone AND was winning scoring titles on assist alone. Think about that for a second. It blows my mind every time. Its unfathomable what he was doing. Sure the era was different, but its all relative. Other players had the same chance to do what he did.

I recently bought the Edmonton Oilers Boxed set on DVD. Its the 10 greatest games in Oiler history in their entirety. SOOOOOOOOOOOOOO good.

  • The only guy in sports that comes close to Wayne was Ty Cobb. His stats were absolutley disgusting. .367 lifetime average? Thats the only other stat in sports that boggles my mind.

I think Pujols is gonna go down as the greatest ball player of all time.

Yeah if people like Lou Gehrig, Ted Williams, Babe Ruth, and Joe DiMaggio never played...
What I can't fathom is what Ted William's stats would look like if he didn't go off to defend the US of A during World War II and the Korean War.

Michael Jordan worked his ass off to get where he got to and I certainly don't blame him for having an "arrogant" speech. I also don't think he is going to be giving shout outs to people like Steve Kerr or Toni Kukoc. They were barely in the same planet as far as basketball players, although Kerr could drain 3s like no one's business
    32 shows and counting...
