I listened to this a few minutes ago & i am not ashamed to say i had a tear rolling down my face. It is such a beautiful song. It flows really well. It is folky & have to say it reminds me of Led Zeppelin's Bron-Yr-Aur, mainly the intro.I dont want to start another thing like Given To Fly & Going To California comparisons or alleged rip off by some people. It just reminds me of it, anyone else?

When I heard that the riff for this song was taken from Toulumne on Into the Wild I was immediately excited. That was the one song on that album that I felt had incredible potential but was left sparse. The notion of making it into a full song really excited me.
I couldn't have been more impressed. Ed changed the guitar line enough to make it different, and I actually find it more interesting for this full-band version. The buildup and the extra instruments sound incredible, and Ed's lyrics are exceptional. In the interview from the Molson theater Ed mentions that it's probably their first true love song, and they pull it off so well. Ed's lyrics give so much passion to this song, I can't get over it. There are points where he sounds like he's almost on the verge of tears, which is amazingly beautiful.
This song stuck out for me from the first listen, and it is definitely one of my favorites.

I didn't pick up the Bron-Yr-Aur similarity when I listened to it, but I can see what you're saying now that I think about it. And I agree, it's definitely not a "take on a zeppelin song" or whatever, but does have some similarity. I think the combination of the guitar melody/rhythm and the soft drum beat really captures that Bron-Yr-Aur feel.

After about half a dozen listens, I gotta admit this - no song has ever struck me this much the first time I heard it, and then grown even stronger with every single listen. Right now it's easily in my top 5 PJ songs. Amazing, amazing piece. Lyrics, music, voice - all just perfect.

Muscially I do hear similarities with Into the Wild tracks, but thematically this song is really different than ITW and I do not think would have fit (same thing with The End). This song is about wanting to be with someone you love--ITW was about running away from everything and everyone--even the ones you love.

True, still I think the music hits the spot on the lyrical theme.

It kinda was on ITW; it's based off Tuolumne from what I read.
