I downloaded this boot - I'm only up to In Hiding (song 8) so far but already it has made my hang out to see PJ even more than ever. It is a great quality boot and the sound quality is awesome. The fact they can sound this great without overdubs (re KISS Alive 1) and the crowd sound so into it! I'm so amped about seeing them in LA in a couple of weeks time and then back home in November. This is the greatest band in the world.

What venue is this in East Rutherford? I'm seeing Springsteen in 10/9 at Giants, it seems NY/Jersey fans know how to rock,n'roll!

  • i think it was the continental arena then...it's the izod center now. and to be honest--from where i was sitting--the sound was awful. i hope they never play there again.
If nothing is everything, I'll have it all
  • I've got GA for Bruce so I'll get my way close to the speakers then ;) Pearl Jam sounded great at the desk at least.

But I know at Subiaco in 2006, I was row 6 )awesome sound) but had friends in the stand and based on the sound quality in the stands have refused to go to any further Subiaco concerts unless they are down the front.

Bruce isn't playing at the IZOD any time soon bro...

  • I imagine the indoor nature of the venue helped amplify the audience then - i cna hear them singing along with most of the boot and really getting into it - I'm up to Garden.

Bruce played the IZOD Center in May. I was about 10 people away from Bruce in the upfront pit.

Ah that show was a rather memorable for me. That was the night i lost my ticket somehow and had to cry to get the security guy to believe me to escort me back to my seat so i wouldn't get hassled .. . That was also the night i couldn't find my friend after the show and ended up waiting an hour outside of the venue.. It was the night that for once , i finally got to tell one of the people who made it happen how amazing of a show it was and how i couldn't see how it would be topped :D Of course it was next night, but that's how it always goes

Indifference was a huge highlight for me first night..then second night, State Of Love And Trust into Rats into Garden? WUT? Hard To imagine??! and the absolutely highlight , Don't Gimme No Lip :o

  • What happened with the power at the beginning of animal?
  • Also, new yorkers... what is the best way to get there from midtown - Grand Central Train or Port Authority Bus or Cab? I land at JFK at 5:30 and got to get to my hotel and back out again. Or would I be better off ditching my luggage somewhere and going straight from JFK? I'm already accepting I'll at least need to cab it from the airport to Midtown.

What happened with the power at the beginning of animal?

The power went out on whatever was powering the vocals.

This was my first Pearl Jam show. I had shit seats but, still felt the crowd like it is portrayed in the bootleg. It was because of this recording, I believe I feel the way I do about Pearl Jam, which all of you could understand. And it is the reason I started collecting their bootlegs, so I could feel the energy time and time again. Of the 11, I give it a full recommendation.

  • It really seems Eddie loves that crowd, he is very similar when he plays Perth, Western Australia. I think these places he has special affection for get some incredible shows as standard.

Agreed, but I think Pearl Jam are partly at fault here. MMJ sounded excellent, loud and clear. Then PJ took the stage and it was like they were playing a mile away. A muddy, echoey mess. The bootleg gives no indication as to how bad it sounded in there.

the port authority bus is very easy
but dont linger after the show, the lines for the buses get long very quickly

The best way is to take a special bus to Giants Stadium from the Port Authority (W42nd St and 8th Avenue) Get your ticket inside first. It gets a little crazy so getting there a bit early would be the best.

thunderstorms were in the area that night and the previous night, the previous it happened during alone. band picked up right where they left off and nailed the rest of the song. needless to say i had a shocked like wtf did i just witness. both nights were fun for me. 2nd night was better cause the band played forever.

"Alone" broke down on the first night because Stone's amp blew up. "Animal" the next night was some kind of power outage. The strange thing is that only half of the instruments shut off...Eddies vocal, Jeff's bass and some of the sound equipment. You can hear the soundguys scrambling around and yelling stuff when the outage happened (there were microphones in front of the soundboard included in the "raw" board feed.) Apparantly, Brett's recording got fucked up too, thus the beginning of the show comes from the board feed.

WTF was with the exact same three songs opening both shows?

the continental arena is much deeper then lets say MSG .
The acoustics are , IMO , horrible and bounce back a little more often .
Ive seen many shows at the arena there,
back since it was the brendan byrne arena .

the upcoming springsteen shows are in the giants stadium ,
as a farewell to the old stadium

PJ need to look at some of the newer facilities not yet played
such as the new newark arena PRUDENTIAL rock

and KEYSPAN PARK in brooklyn NYC .

i was there both nights...the acoustics were iffy at best but indifference night 1 still gives me chills to this day and rats on night 2 made the crowd erupt - also the only time ive heard that song in 10 shows i think

In one of the shows he referenced how Boston was better. I saw the Boston shows and the E. Rutherford shows in 2006 and as far as sound and crowd energy and just overall concert vibe. . . he was right.

There were two E. Rutherford shows. I took my then 10 year old nephew to June 1, 2006, and my then 12 year old niece to June 3, 2006. We were in second row tenclub seats (Thanks Tenclub!), and it was their first concerts. Ed threw tambourines to both of them which they have displayed in their rooms. Mike threw pics to both of them. My nephew caught 2 and was able to give one to his sister. The ones meant for her on June 3rd we just couldn't catch. I remember one boomeranging off me :D I tell you, Mike should get an A for effort on that one. He was throwing quite a few pics our way.

I was such a worry-wart aunt OI! are you ok . . . are you ok. . . are you hungry . . . are your ears ok . . . My nephew was getting a little annoyed with me  Pearl Jam helped me reach SuperAunt status, that's for sure!

  • fuck yea man i was at the e ruth. night 2 show and it was incredible. of course i was hammered so i guess i didnt notice the sound problems everyone else was mentioning, it sounded great to me. i bought both boots as soon as they were available. only reason i wish i went to the first night was to hear footsteps though.

they always play great shows and react well with the crowd when they play their philly/camden/ny shows. its a great pj area, especially philly and camden. cant wait for 4 nights of PJ in philly in october
In July 2007 Densmore said that he would not rejoin The Doors unless it was fronted by Eddie Vedder. Densmore says, "I play with Jim. If there's someone of that level, OK. I'm not gonna join them with Ian. That's not to diss Ian, he's a good singer - but he's no Jim Morrison. Eddie Vedder? My God, there's a singer."

Apparantly, it sounded okay on the floor, but up in the bleachers it was unlistenable. And like I said, MMJ sounded great where I was, so it can't totally be the acoustics.
