Is this a happy record?

Is it? As I said the love songs are very fatalistic and mortal sounding. But overall, the feeling of powerlessness and hopelessness that permeates most of the bands catalogue is pretty absent.

It seems a lot more positive than their usual to me.

What does Ed have to be UNhappy about? Seriously... I don't know if I've felt the other albums were unhappy but at this point... Ed is living the dream life. Model wife. 2 kids. Biggest best band on planet earth. Demo President who isn't Bush. Ins with his favorite baseball team. Successful solo career. They are on top of the world and it would at this point be not well received to put out a WAHHHHH record. Not that he cares about that but maybe a little.

I don't think any of them have a damn thing to be unhappy about and it comes through clear in this record. Ride waves, bone chicks, melt faces, and rock around the world with a big fat smile smeared across their rock bombing grills.

It has some very positive songs and a few very sad songs.
So, I guess a person could answer that part of it seems happy.
