i just wondered about this out of curiosity. incubus is another band i love. pj have played loads of festivals where incubus was the band right under them as far as headliners. also, at the who rock honors sha-bang, incubus was another one of the bands there. yet, i've never heard either band talk about or mention each other and they have never played together. anyone have any insight? this is purely curiosity

I'm not an Incubus fan ... don't hate 'em, just never got into them.

One thing I found interesting was at Outside Lands, when Incubus was the lead in to Pearl Jam.

Ed said something along the lines of, "we want to thank all the great bands that came on before us today, Built to Spill ... they're great ... " and, that was it. Odd because BTS was on at like 2:30 ... but that's the band Ed singled out.

I'm not saying it means a lot, hell, I'm not saying it means a thing ... I just found it interesting BTS was the band he mentioned by name, and not the guys that were on just before them.

Wasn't there an article interviewing Incubus posted here not long ago, and they were talking about their influenes ... they got a little snarky that PJ was mentioned, and they totally refuted that? I vaguely remember reading that not long ago.

  • PJ touring with Incubus would be a dream come true for me! Both bands have amazing musicians, amazing singers, amazing lyrics, and so on. The two are politcaly the same. And the two bands hold ture to some of the same values. I with PJ would pay more attention to my second favorite band.

  • i talked with brandon and mike from incubus a whiles back...at an afterparty when they did the Rock Honors for The Pretenders....was talking with kings of leon, who at the time, were just announced to open for PJ for the first time and were completely stoked.

All of them had nice things to say about PJ, Brandon and Mike said how much they respected PJ's decision to step back and made them rethink a lot of their methods as a band, a mutual understanding...they've crossed paths along the ways during the mid-late 90's too.

the best thing from Caleb was him telling me that during high school, all him and his friends would do is just sit on their porch, singing, porch.

At Outside Lands Brandon directly said he couldn't wait to be done so they could watch Pearl Jam perform..so there's that side of the coin...

  • In an interview recorded on the "Alive at Red Rocks" DVD, Incubus talks about working with Brendan O'Brien and how they love the work he did with Pearl Jam.

I like Incubus, they are the band I listen to the most behind PJ. I think they are great musicians, especially Mike, I think he is way underrated. Brandon is a good singer bit I think far too often he tries to hard. Some of his lyrics are really good too but he also writes some really really sappy god awfull shit. But I guess Eddie has made my standards waaaay to high....
