If you're that worried about it, and I'm saying without trying to sound like a dick, just don't go. It's not like he's going to sit there the entire time talking about politics. But if a few minutes of politic commentary is going to ruin the concert for you, save your cash.

I actually like to hear a little more of his opinion. Wasn't so vocal about it on the PJ tour. Seemed as if he was for Obama and I'm curious what happened with Nader?

Well the title said "alot [sic] of politics", so maybe that's what writersu was responding to. I agree with your post - expect a few words. I don't think there will be a lot of political discussion. There wasn't in April, so I'm not sure why August would be any different, it being the same election year and all.

And to get back to the equation responses:
    Political Ed = Predictable Ed.

People should know going in that they're going to hear a few words. People should also think for themselves. I know Ed's words have little to no influence on what I think and how I vote, but I have no problem with him expressing himself, and often find him funny.

Well, the April Fools tour was in 08 and he wasn't that political- not anymore than usual.

I'm sure that the east coast will get the same setlist as the west coast- or pretty damn similar

yeah, you're right. I am sure he won't talk the whole time. sorry, I just get tired of it. It's like being married to someone and going, "I know, I know....already".

If you think your relationship w/ Ed is akin to being married then I think you need a divorce.

If you would have asked me before you bought your tickets I could have saved you your time and money. Ed WILL talk about politics at shows. It's like going to a football game and being pissed their wearing helmets, know ahead of time what to expect and if you don't like it, don't go.
  • i look forward to him talking politics!! wish i could go for a beer with Ed after the show and talk politics late into the night!

agreed, anything different is questioning whether Ed will be Ed or not. It's been 17 yrs already, Ed has grown, but not changed. Ed WILL BE Ed.

Ed's toned down the rhetoric alot. He made a couple political statements on his West Coast gig. But it wasnt over the top. Frankly I am not so sure just how enthralled he is about Obama. Of course, he could have been suckered like most of the other libs on here. Who knows.

    It is what it is.

Ed is gonna speak his mind and more often than not, that usually includes politics.

Who cares really...I'm a fan of the music.

Ed can say whatever he wants when he wants.

Montreal and Toronto may be the only ones that don't get as much political conversation as he won't be speaking to a voting audience...or at least anyone that will have any bearing on the U.S. Election in 08.

Of course he will. He'll play a setlist of shitty accoustic/protest/riot act songs, bitch about Bush, bitch about oil companies, play Fortunate Son and some more shitty riot act songs. The gig will end, and then he'll jump into a limo with his entourage and leave.

I love it when he does that... even when I disagree with him.

I especially enjoyed reading about the drama on the stage in SD2!

I would have enjoyed seeing that! ;) I hope he does more of those.

It's part of who he is...and he wants to share with his audience on his views, opinions, and perceptive.

He does exercise his rights as an American and I think that he wants to see more people speaking out and not being afraid to be criticized for having different views or opinions. Especially when they are given those rights to do so!

I wouldn't have minded if he had his own politics talk show. I'd be all for that, actually. :)

I'd write on why I agreed or disagreed on the points he made to raise the level of discourse, as he seems to listen to differing views and then addressing them again.

    But that's just me. :p

    To the original post:

No, it's not his style. Ed doesn't like to be contrversal. He seems to be pretty passive towards any politcal issue.
