I just read in the newest Runner's World magazine that a 76 year old man with open heart surgery started running again about 2 weeks after the surgery. I had open heart surgery 35 years ago, and I'm still scared of what *too much* exercise could do to me.

I'm such a pansy!

It's wonderful stories like that man's that inspire me. Now, I have no excuse, eh? :)

It was also the same issue with an article by Mark Bittman who I think is a teensy wheensy little bit uber-cooler than members of Pearl Jam (For shame!) Most inspiring issue I've read to date, and of course it was the last of my subscription.

Have you heard/read any stories about someone that made you think of your fears and realize that you could let them go?

  • I use to love flying as a child.

    Then I discovered the news.

Watched airplanes go down on TV.

Imagined the horror everyone must have felt.

But then, that plane that landed in the water and no one died....

    ...that was a miracle.

So when I fly home to see my son, I imagine how hard it must be for those people to get on an airplane again, not to mention the millions of people who think about air travel and 911.

I think the people that overcame their fears after these events, inspires me to be stronger in the face my own fear, airports and flying.

This plane ride I took last week, I turned my Ipod on and let myself be given to the sky as loud as I could get it!

Yes. I'm always on the look out for stories of people doing things I wish I could manage to do. I'm always trying to figure out how they think that allows them to do unbelievable things.

Wouldn't it be great if we could all find out the best ways to do what we've been afraid to do?! :)
