Give me some fast paced songs like Rearviewmirror and Blood on low volume and I'm out like a light.
~ is your Pearl Jam cup half empty, or 1/2 Full?
I'm about to try this tonight
Might I recommend some RVM from the 2000 tour. A very good year, lots of extended jams. Hehe

It's pretty good, usually I put it on shuffle, but sometimes I go in order, I usually fall asleep during Dead Man b/c thats a very low song to begin with and my volume is always really low.
But once in awhile I just want some acoustic PJ, so I pop in Benaroya and play that.
I am with you. I couldn't sleep to them either.
The suggestion of "Yellow Led's" being a song to sleep to; Military "representative's" coming to your house solemly letting you know a loved one has passed (On the front porch but they don't wave, box or a bag, etc.), sorry couldn't fall asleep to that. Check out "Two Feet Thick" for some insight on that song. Having heard these lyrics and interpretation makes it hard to fall asleep to.

Uh,
Sorry if I offended you. Take a look at the few posts I've made. High and mighty I am not. Pardon me for using my first amendment rights and giving an opinion.
As far as knowing the meaning of the song, the lyrics change and what I indicated is it's one interpretation. One that doesn't put me to sleep.
Release gives me chills. Of the girl,Low Light, Nothingman, I couldn't fall asleep to those either. I don't plan on disecting the whole list.
I simply stated the songs I saw, wouldn't help me fall asleep, yeah I know the post was "what helps you sleep", not "what doesn't". I could fall asleep drinking a cup of coffee, so the post doesn't apply to me anyway.
Sorry if i ruined your cherrios.

Um ... yeah. I think when it comes to making a "lights out" mix, subject matter has nothing to do with it.
Or else pretty much zero PJ songs would fit the bill.
You're just looking for a sound or a vibe. If you're listening to the lyrics, you aren't falling asleep anyway.
EDIT: So, it turns out this was my 5,000th post. Damn it all!
for the least they could possibly do
Yeah,
I listen to them. I think most of us can relate to the lyrics in some way (some more than others). Some of those songs hit home. I didn't mean it as a jab to anyone, it's not my style.

I think you misunderstand me ... Of course, we all listen to the lyrics. The lyrics are the most important thing about Pearl Jam to me.
But not when I'm looking to fall asleep.
Then, it's just about the sound.
If you're listening intently to the lyrics, hanging on every word, you aren't trying to fall asleep, are you?
for the least they could possibly do
Thanks,
It's all good. I didn't mean to single your song out. I was quoting pearl jammer who indicated the slow songs are so intricate that it is hard to not listen to them. Yellow Leds is another one of those songs to me. I did not mean to dis you. Have a great day/night :-)
