i think it's more like, you're "promoting stolen art" by suggesting pearl jam link their stolen art on their website.
sounds confusing but it makes sense in my brain

You are discussing the leak. You cannot discuss the leak. Just because you didn't say the word LEAK doesn't mean you weren't discussing it and how the band is handling it.

  • I was thinking this myself. Discussing how different bands handle leaked music is not discussing the leak going on at the moment, and I think it's a very relevant and important topic that shouldn't be dismissed.

i'm with you op. however, i have accepted that pearl jam won't adapt to technology in a beneficial way, so i stopped worrying about it a long time ago.

i think fans are partially to blame here. a lot of folks only want the physical, the "thing" - and often buy multiple copies, so pj doesn't really have a need to adapt like wilco (also one of my favorite bands) or other bands. but this is what predominantly keeps them from too far beyond their established base with album sales.

most bands stream on their myspace or whatever early. when anything can be free, people need an incentive to buy instead, such as hearing a whole album.

phish played all of their new album before it came out and it was available on their official boots. i bet they have a top three album this week, and i bet it outsells backspacer.
