Pearl Jam Appreciation
Sorry for a long post I know a lot of people don't like reading a wall of text but I wanted to make this thread and read other fans love for this band. Don't like reading all negativity and want to make a positive thread that maybe I can learn where people come from.
Most of my life I had never gave music any attention or even batted an eye at it. Back when I was a Sophmore in high school (5 years ago) I realized just how amazing music is. Oddly enough I was introduced to Pearl Jam by an English teacher that would often talk about stories relating to Pearl Jam . In a part of our final project we were required to interpret the song black.
Obviously everyone appreciates Black but it just enjoy looking back on that time in my life of the 'enlightenment' of music. I finally realized how intense music is; how much a band can put their heart, soul into music. I realized how all the different elements of that song fit this mood, how the notes of the song speak just as strong as the tone of Ed's voice or the lyrics. I almost wish I could go back five years ago to experience this all over again.
Black was the door that led me straight to this on going fixation I have with Pearl Jam. It's amazing how this band produced music that has influenced me so much. Their music helped me get through some hard times in my life and helping me face the fact that I have to just 'fucking grow up'. I mean I'm still young and life will always be this constant changing challenge and I'm just thankful that this band is here now still making music that's true to them.
I know everyone is entitled to their opinions but I love listening/watching Pearl Jam continue to evolve. I understand I wasn't here in the begining of this roller coaster so my ideals and thoughts of this band are going to be different from someone there from the very begining. (I wish I had learned to love music earlier and just because I haven't been here since the begining doesn't mean I don't love them any less than the next obsessed fan
) I don't think Pearl Jam has really changed for worse and (sadly, some might say) my addiction to this band is going to continue to grow and I don't think I'll ever give it up.
I'm not saying Pearl Jam is the best band ever. I acknowledge great bands who were before, there's no way to measure if music is better than the other. Complexity doesn't always mean it's greater. If I'm going to be this head over heels with a band it better be for a band that fucking puts their heart and fucking soul into doing what they do. I feel Pearl Jam is all about the music and that's why I love them. They're a present-day band that kicks ass and love every minute of it. That's why we're all here (or why we all should be here).
They've definitely got some and I definitely fucking need it.
(sorry for the long post I hope some people enjoyed reading it and give their story
