I was thinking about this the other day. I have no friends who are right into pearl jam. I know a few people who are right into Ben Harper, or Xavier Rudd, or Tool. But i have never met anyone besides going to PJ concerts whom I sit beside the same guy at every show i've been to cause our numbers are like neighbours or something. I'll talk that guys ear off and he will share as well.

But, I wonder what it would be like to have a close friend right into PJ.

Whats it like?

    What's it like?

It's like an orgasm, with a side of ice cream.

    :D
  • I'm sorry :(
My best friend and my husband are just as fanatical as I am, and my overall PJ experience is enhanced so much b\c they are. From day to day chatting, to concerts, to the occasinal jam session, it really makes a difference! It's so amazing to be able to share my love of the band with people who really get it, and who I really care about. It's a great feeling to be able to call my buddy or hubby when I score tickets and have them freak out on the other end of the phone right along with me. I feel really lucky - especially since I didn't have to explain to my husband why I wanted to fly from Philly to Hawaii to see EV this summer...he just got it, and was thrilled to be right there with me :D

that does sound like an orgasim with a side of ice cream.

    Glad to hear about it.

Do you ever argue about songs or whatever?
  • Not so much argue, but heavily debate the intricacies of the songs and the feelings they invoke in each of us, and then compare our differences, and maybe see a different point of view. Many a night has been spent this way :)
  • Try being my age (46, and no old fart jokes, please ;) ) and having friends into Pearl Jam. Back in the day (ok, that sounds like an old fart talking!) my friends and I used to trek from tiny 'ol Vancouver to Seattle to see PJ and the rest of the pack play. I've all but lost track of 99% of them.

I do have a friend in his early 50's (woo-hoo, older than me!) who is going to the Ridgefield show with me. He's gotten into PJ after discovering Ed's solo stuff and is pretty excited to see the band live.

Well for me its the BEST! Because they understand me, and are the only ones who do not think I'm nuts.

I met my husband on this board (well the old old board the BBS Sony board) on 2002 and we've been married 6 1/2 years and he is my travel buddy for Pearl Jam shows.
Most of my good friends are PJ freaks just like me, including my BFF, when talking about PJ is like we read each other minds, it's scary sometimes LOL!
I would be lost in the world with out my PJ buddies :D I Love them all! :ugeek:

  • i found its important to befriend someone equally obsessed so i didn't feel like a freak. the fanatic i met through another buddy actually got me back into PJ after i kinda lost my way after binaural and riot act. at his urging i went back and redigested them and was re-obsessed with the band. now we hang at all the shows. my wife likes PJ and tolerates my obsession but again, its good to know at least one fellow freak.

Its even better when they have a much lower 10c # than you ;) . Sat in the 7th row in Chicago with a good friend I worked with in my firehouse.

  • HAHAH I was on my iTouch during health class on this site and the kid sitting next to me asks "Whats Pearl jam????"
    hahaha i was like ommmmmg.

I have one friend who loves pearl jam shes coming to 1 of the seattle shows with me :D its cool 2 have someone to talk about PJ with lol.
    Shows:
    Seattle Key Arena 9-21-2009
    Seattle Key Arena 9-22-2009
  • I don't think any of my friends can listen to Pearl Jam as much as I do but thankfully I got one of my best friends to acknowledge Pearl Jam as his favorite band. :D Just had to show him the MTV Unplugged version of Black and to see/hear the ammount of emotion this band puts into their music.
  • Let me say it sucks not having any friends who are into Pearl Jam. All my friends know how much I love this band but no one is really into them at all. Hell, they didn't even know that they were releasing a new album. That is why it is pure bliss going to a Pearl Jam show and being surrounded by people who love this band and their music as much as I do.

I don't have any friends like us either. I have a few casual fans but no one like me...you know, traveling to shows, buying vinyl, posters, checking the message pit 1309840293 times a day. The usual, haha.

I've always wanted a close friend as nuts as me. I'd make things a little more fun I think.
