I wrote this last year in regards to 9-11 and think it still holds true. As our nation now slowly removes military from Iraq, we're building them up in Afganistan.... when will we learn?

i have to finish reading it later but i wanted to comment before i book for the weekend ...

i agree - that remembrance of that day means nothing if we allow it to happen again ... also, what spawned from that day (two brutal wars) that has accomplished nothing but cause mass suffering and make some people a lot of money ...

the other thing which i wrote in another thread is the demonizing of people who dare ask for answers to the events of that day ... like you are the biggest asshole if you even so slightly mention that there was some fraud going on that day ... well, if i died that day - i would want the truth of what happened to be found out ... my memory means nothing if the real criminals of my death are free to do it again ...

so, while many want to rip into others for questioning the events that day - all i think is that the criminals are laughing all the way to the bank ...

    Thanks for reading.

Albeit, there seem to be lots of unanswered questions about the 9-11 events, I hardly believe it's a conspiracy theory or inside job or similar. Not trying to start that debate by any means, cause I've heard it all and still don't buy it.

"As the Presidential election grows closer, we hear a lot of talk about security, foreign policy and the war on terror. The candidates’ answers to such important questions don’t vary in great depth though. Currently, we have a war in Iraq, a war in Afghanistan and continue to fuel the fire which led to the occurrence of 9-11. If the message is lost, what real meaning should someone hold for an anniversary ceremony? The short answer is not much at all. It’s all bells and whistles."

    I agree.
  • To me it is so far out of place when people make more of an anniversary and yet let the message and meaning get lost. Every passing year on Sept 11th we can remember or have feelings of what occurred, yet the real meaning should be day to day and how to correct such things from occurring. Sure, ceremonies and remembrances are nice, but they are irrelevant if the rest isn't followed through on.

    i agree...

    thank you for sharing.

Beautiful writings showing some of what these United States has done in our militaristic past. Which continues keep us in this war mongering spiral this country can NOT seem to get out of.

    Thanks for the reminder.
In the past 7 years we have failed miserably at making our nation safer. No matter the means of delivery, we are just as vulnerable to attacks as we were on the morning of September 11th. The next time we can’t scream innocence and ignorance; for the next time it will be on us. When you fail to prepare, you are preparing for failure.

Love that line was that originally yours? It's so true cause that's one of the first thoughts that came to me on that day. I couldn't believe we were not prepared or had no idea this was going to happen not with ALL the technology we have in this country.
