My Theory: Lack of Reviews is Coupled with Lack of a Leak

I've watched things over the past few album releases. I get access to articles and post relevant ones. I have noticed that for Riot Act and Avocado, the review articles (not preview) came trickling in a few weeks prior to the album release. There were increasing numbers of articles as we got closer to the album release. For Riot Act and Avocado, a week before release, there were a lot of reviews already out. This go-around, there are some but very few. I heard about reviewers going to the Seattle warehouse and in other cases, someone listening in a car. I'm thinking that maybe very few disks, if any, were distributed. And that other provisions were made for the reviewers. Maybe the review period has been shortened and is just starting. Maybe they just release it and then let people review it. So my theory is the lack of a leak is linked to the fact that there are very few reviews. Thoughts?
Up here so high I start to shake, Up here so high the sky I scrape, I've no fear but for falling down, So look out below I am falling now, Falling down,...not staying down, Could’ve held me up, rather tear me down, Drown in the river

i dont know. reviewers dont need to wait for leaks. they get the music from the band.

i would have thought we'd have gotten many more reviews than we have thus far. i've seen 5, 6 maybe? we should have a thread dedicated to them in here

My theory is that leaks are created by having too many disks out there for reviewers and that maybe the band curtailed distributing the disks to reviewers and that's why we don't see so many reviews. Also, none of the reviews so far have mentioned the packaging.

  • It is a strange one but to be honest, I havent seen any press for the album at all in New Zealand, altho the "tour" press is everywhere...its almost as if the album is an afterthought because the press are all over the fact PJ are coming back to play...I wouldnt think that lack of leak would have anything to do with lack of reviews...Mags/press/bloggers whatever would surely have been seen a "promo" copy of the album...the sort you see in 2nd hand music stores with no booklet etc and "not for re-sale" on it....!! Also, you could argue that the lack of reviews is why there is no leak because there must be less of these promo disks out there to cause the leak...I have to say tho the Billboard Interview that has been on here is actually one of the finest PJ interviews I've ever read/heard and is a great insight into BACKSPACER...Altho its not a "review" as such, song by song....tho truly I dont think anyone anywhere could do a "review" that would satisfy us...ie those who love/hate "THE FIXER"...I personally think its a gem...already I have upset someone who thinks its "trash"...you see??!!! ;) Im off to read the BIllboard Interview again!!!!
