Philly Hotel Screw Up Via Priceline

I've been having lots of trouble getting a decent priced hotel via Priceline. Yesterday, I totally fucked up and included "City Line" along with "Downtown Philly" while bidding for a room. I put in a bid of $65 and wound up with Crowne Plaza City Avenue Hotel, which is about 5 miles from Downtown Philly. I was so pissed after realizing my mistake, but now I don't think it's that bad.

I called the hotel and they have free parking, plus there's a bus that picks you up right in front of the hotel, which takes you to downtown Philly. I don't plan on spending too much time at my hotel, anyway, so I guess my mistake isn't too bad at all.

If any of you wind up at this place, let me know and we'll get drinks :)

I believe Priceline will usually let you cancel if your bid is a mistake. You could call their customer service if you want to explore that option. The free parking would definitely be nice though if you stay where you are.

That hotel is on City Line Avenue. You aren't far from the city, but traffic is a nightmare on City Line (especially if you take 76 to the stadium area).

Not sure if your purchase is final, but I would recommend trying to cancel that transaction and finding something in Center City.

Not a huge deal either way, but I'd agree you'd be better off in Center City if you can get out of your deal easily.

It's not that big a deal, there are a few restaurants and stuff around there, plus the zoo is not too far, if that interests you. The commute to the venue, well that will be a bitch, but that's unavoidable from that part of the city.

    Otherwise, it's a pretty area, I think.

Don't come closer or I'll have to go
  • Unfortunately, I can't cancel the reservations. I'll just make the best of it.

if you have a car, just leave early for the shows and tailgate. There will be fundraising parties in the parking lot and I'm sure there will be plenty of people at McFadden's accross the street from the Spectrum. Enjoy.
Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of
arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to
slide in sideways, BBQ sandwich in one hand, cold beer in the other,
body thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and screaming "Woo Hoo what a
    ride"!

Do you know if they charge for parking there?

The parking lot will be the same used for the Spectrum. The chrage will be either 12 or 20 bucks. McFadden's is attached to Citizen's Bank Park.

Thanks! I've spent so much damn money so far on PJ this year, that I'll probably take the train to the show. I want to drink and not drive, too.

  • Thanks for the heads up. Scored two nights at this hotel on hotwire for 80 a night. You taking public transit or are you driving?

I think I'm going to take the public bus into downtown Philly from the hotel, and then grab the train which drops you off about 1 block away from the venue.

That's what I was thinking as well. We'll have to catch up for a pre or post show beer. See you in Philly!

  • No. I just started a new job, so I can only get 1 day off with only a month and a half's notice. Am doing the last two, but I have a feeling I'm gonna have no regrets leaving Philly!
