Mansfield Hotels & Questions??

Hello everyone,

I just got the reservations for the Mansfield Saturday night show.

I am coming in from NYC. I have some questions I was hoping some of you guys can help me out with...

I have never been to Boston, and I always wanted to take the trip up. I would like to walk around Boston a bit, and go to a bar or 2, & see some of the sites, so with that said.....

Where should I stay in Mass. for the show? Look for a hotel in Mansfield? In Boston?? How far away is the concert location to Boston?

Are there buses, trains, or taxis that will get me to Boston to Mansfield, and vice versa??

I am thinking about making this trip as cheap as possible, so I may take a bus to Boston from NYC. If I dont have a car, will I be able to survive, and get to the show, and around without to much trouble?? Or should I drive up from NYC, and put a ton of miles on my leased car???

Any good recomendations for a nice Hotel that is not to expensive???

Thank You to everyone ahead of time for any help.

  • You're probably going to need a car. Mansfield is pretty much in the middle of nowhere (at least in New England terms), and as far as I know there aren't any good ways to get there by public transportation. You could take a taxi, but it'll cost an arm and a leg.

Boston is about 30 min from Mansfield in light traffic. Traffic, as I'm sure you know being from NYC, is a big variable. Hotels in Boston are gonna be expensive, especially on a Saturday night. There are a few threads about hotels for Mansfield, check them out. I usually stay in Framingham (also about 30 min from Mansfield, but more to the west) to try to avoid the traffic around the city. Still, you have to take 495 from Framingham to Mansfield, and that can be pretty busy too...though on a Sat. it shouldn't be too bad.

The bottom line: You'll need a car (or someone you know who has one!), and plan extra time to get to the venue.

Red roof inn in Mansfield is going to be the place to be on Saturday and Monday nights.

sunday would be a good opporotunity to get into Boston and see the city.

less than 4 miles away, hotel bar, indoor pool
50+ shows and lost count somewhere along the way
  • 1) Mansfield is about a 45-minute to an hour drive from boston, WITH NO TRAFFIC. It has, in the past taken me over 3 hours to get there.

    2) the commuter rail goes between boston and mansfield but a) last train out is too early and b) there's no pedestrian access between the train station and the venue (mansfield is an autocentric suburb). it won't work.

    3) decide on either staying in boston or closer to the show and either renting a car or getting a ride between the two.

Nice hotel. I stayed there when I took a previous GF to see a concert for her birthday.
I'll ride the wave where it takes me.

that's a good idea. stay in mansfield then travel to boston for the day.
  • Having tasted, a life wasted....

....I'll probably only go back a couple more times.
