    Where was this?

Me and my girl were housesitting in Pleasanton, CA this weekend (a very nice staycation as it turned out) and right down the street we could hear the bagpipes throughout the day yesterday.

But, I think many areas hosted their Scottish games this weekend.

    that's really cool.

We drove by the fairgrounds at one point and thought about going in ... but, we were really in the "let's just chill by ourselves this weekend" ... then, we went to the Livermore wine festival on Sunday ... so much for that.

I go to a Scottish Games every year with my fam (in Fairhill, MD, right outside of Newark, DE) and I LOVE IT. They're so much fun and the music is really lovely imo.

yeah the bands have competitions all weekend long, and the closing ceremony has them all playing together....they did 'amazing grace' which always sounds incredible. they also had a marines band from san diego and the guard from buckingham palace, was some good stuff.

    every single weekend.
oh scary... 40000 morbidly obese christians wearing fanny packs invading europe is probably the least scariest thing since I watched an edited version of The Care Bears movie in an extremely brightly lit cinema.

    we hear these every year,

    for all the 9-11 ceremonies.

yeah, definitely a different feel for bagpipes when you were raised in the northeast.

My girlfirend asked, "oh, bag pipes, do you wnat to head in?".

My respose, "baby, really ... I grew up near Boston, I've heard my fair share of bagpipes ... granted, they are usually accompanied by green beer and adults puking by 11 am."
