101.9 RXP's 1,019 countdown....Black was #14!!!!!

And it beat Nirvana!

It's a great station in NYC....and voted on by the listeners, no corporate bullshit going on at this station - and having PJ finally beat Nirvana in a countdown as such is more proof on the matter of all the previous countdowns being pure BS.

Tuning in sporatically throughout the weekend i know I've heard Not For You, Rearviewmirror, Alive, and now Black - and i'm SURE i missed a few PJ songs in between! Because we know it wouldn't be a countdown with "No Even Flow" :)

the full 1,019 list will be updated tomorrow I believe..

I forgot to vote. But you could only pick one song from each band though.

K-Rock switched formats in March. Its previous playlist was too predictable. I was riveted to this countdown and you know it wasn't the standard countdown when "Stairway to Heaven" was 991. On Q-104, that is always number one.

  • I think rxp 101.9 is a great radio station matt pinfield is doing a good job and Nik carter plays alot of PJ as does rich russo but i definetly don't see how london calling was the # 1 song of the countdown.

The Edge is Toronto had a similar countdown, top 200 songs of the 90s. The list was an absolute joke.

I heard Spin the Black Circle somewhere in the 700 area on Saturday afternoon, which was real cool to hear on the radio.

Definitly a different countdown. Not sure the rules on how the votes were counted. There were some real weird songs, that I cant see how there were multiple votes for.

I believe they are from Canada. They are VERY big up there. In the states, yes you will need to really send out a search party to find people who might remember them/ heard of them.
