One Fast Move or I'm Gone: Kerouac's Big Sur

Just read about this and am anxiously awaiting the release date.

From the explanation it's kind of a retrospective of the book, those it inspired, and Kerouac's old hangouts that inspired the book. I first heard about this because Jay Farrar of Son Volt and Benjamin Gibbard of Death Cab collaborate on the performance of the soundtrack. I think Jay Farrar is truly one of the must underrated songwriters and musicians in the world. His sound really doesn't have a niche - it tends to tread the ground between country and rock and not in a Skynrd or Eagles way, more like a Woody Guthrie meets Gram Parsons meets Neil Young and Crazy Horse. Anyway, I'm looking forward to going back and reading Big Sur to set the mood.

right on!
I too am really excited about the movie and soundtrack. I'm not so sure about ben gibbard, but the Jay songs should be awesome. I heard one of them they were streaming on their website a few weeks ago and it was really cool.

I'm LOVING the record. Turns out Jay wrote most of the songs (music), with the exception of the title track, which Ben wrote almost completely, borrowing just a few phrases from Jack.
The movie I'm a little bit ambivalent about. I thought it was ok but could have been a lot better with less C-list actors and their commentary.
