Question on Playing Daughter On Guitar?

I have a question, Ok when playing Stone's parts on daughter, the intro and the verse parts, do I strum all the open strings along with the ones that you make the chord with, or do I mute the open strings and play only the fretted down strings?

    the guitar should be tuned so that you can play all of the open strings as well as theones being pushed down. i think the tuning is open g but i'm not positive

    Tune your guitar to d-B-G-D-G-G (High to Low). Strum only the 4 low strings.
    ...
    You will know it's tuned correctly when the arrpegio beginning sounds just like it does on the album.
