Heres a novelty...l actually love pearl jam and its 2009....

I've spent the last hour looking over this forum and Im starting to wonder why I even do anymore...
I've been a fan since TEN....Ive been a 10c member for nearly 10 years...I've travelled thousands of miles to different continents to see PJ...AND SURPRISINGLY ENOUGH I LOVE PJ...I EVEN LOVE THE FIXER...SORRY!!

So this is the place to come online, chat to like minded PJ fans, get inside info, to get up at all hours to follow the set list threads as they come in... etc etc....REALLY???
Doesnt feel like it anymore.....
Now of course everyone has their opinions...as I do right now with this thread....HOWEVER....

"Backspacer sucks...The Fixer is pathetic....PJ are no longer relevant....wheres the fucking bootlegs...Why NO bootlegs for every show, thats shit....10c are just taking our money and giving us nothing....Ed's lyircs are shit...of course Jeff is gonna say Ed's lyrics are great, he is trying to sell an album....the merch is crap...Eddie shouldnt let the band write any of the songs that why PJ are shite now...Eddie's fat...The Super Deluxe is too expensive...The band are too old...The setlists are rubbish...I always leave for a piss or a beer when even flow is played....dont ever play Daughter again...Dont ever play Alive again....Dont ever play Better Man again....I've listened to all THE SNIPPETS and PJ are finished, theyre not creative anymore, theyre finished...Backspacer is gonna suck...Avocado sucks, Riot Act sucks, Binaural sucks...."

YES THIS FORUM REALLY IS THE PLACE TO BE FOR PEARL JAM FANS.... :x WTF?

    I absolutely understand your frustration, but something I've realized is that its much easier to see (and remember) the negative posts/threads. For each of those threads you note, there is 10+ pages of posts replying to the contrary.

    Pearl Jam can do no wrong by me...don't know how I lucked out to find a band that I love so much, and yes The Fixer, Got Some, Supersonic and ALL snippets make me more excited every time I listen.

    Just try to take the positive- not the negative. I guarantee that there are far more people that love the band hanging around here than those who "no longer do."

    PLUS BACKSPACER COMES OUT IN LESS THAN 2 WEEKS WTF!!!!

    this is what you get with a band that's as popular as they are.

    I often get the same conflicting feelings about the fan base at a pearl jam show.

    I'll restate a question that I asked in another thread: you really want this place to be just a bunch of sycophantic boot-lickers? that sounds painful to me.

    So for me, I add these threads to the pile of reasons to stop coming here.

    But there are the occasional great threads/genuine conversations that keep me coming back.

    Yeah, but you have to admit that its much better seeing a happy thread talking about being excited for the band's new release.

    I can relate to the OP's genuine disappointment with the disrespectful negative threads. I mean, constructive dissent- fine. Downright nasty, party-pooper, "Backspacer is gonna suck" threads--well, they're just a real downer.

    Ok i do get your point to a degree...however, i just dont get why there have been these threads saying "Simple PJ are finished, they're outdated, they're irrelevant...".....that sounds painful to me...

    I can relate to the OP's genuine disappointment with the disrespectful negative threads. I mean, constructive dissent- fine. Downright nasty, party-pooper, "Backspacer is gonna suck" threads--well, they're just a real downer.

    agreed. There is a way to voice disapproval or concerns without being an a-hole.

    But again, this isn't exactly your local neighbourhood indie band that we're talking about here. There are going to be assholes present. It really is just learning to ignore them and remembering why you like the band in the first place. It is a touch insecure to get all worked up that 100% of people aren't loving something.

    Who cares. If you love it, you love it and there's nothing that Johnny Comelately should be able to say to change that.

    I disagree with all these "this message pit is negative" posts. If someone starts a thread titled "The Fixer sucks," it becomes a 12 page thread of everybody disagreeing with him.
