Strumming Daughter On Guitar

I have a question, Ok when playing Stone's parts on daughter, the intro and the verse parts, do I strum all the open strings along with the ones that you make the chord with, or do I mute the open strings and play only the fretted down strings?

    I usually do all the open strings except during the 9/12 and 9/11 parts
