I have been listening to a bunch of PJ records all the way through because I am going to a few upcoming shows. I used to compare every new album to "Ten, Vs., Vitalogy" because of the tremendous amount of influence those three records had on me, and at first nothing compared to what those did for me. But now as I listen to these records "Yeild" either my taste has changed, or I never gave them the the chance. Because most of my favorite songs aren't even on the first three, unless you count B-sides. Does any of that make sense?

YIELD is my favorite Pearl Jam album.

It just doesn't get any better than Brain of J, Faithfull, and No Way for a trio opener on just about any album ever made. I love YIELD. 8-)

Oh and, i before e and whatnot. ;)

No way. Absolutely no way. There is a correct answer for which four are better, and opinion has nothing to do with it. The first four are by far the better collection of songs, especially based on audience reaction. You get more reaction out of Pearl Jam fans for Indifference than any song post Yield.
  • I find myself slipping away from Pearl Jam

Yield is a great album but with the new ones I dunno

their moving away from the rock which I love. I guess you could call it growing but I call it something else

those first 5 albums where so solid and true that it kinda makes it hard for me to listen to the new stuff

Avocado wasn't bad it was pretty good. This new stuff though? glad I didn't go to any shows

'Vs.' is still my favorite... then, No Code/Yield.
Probably has more to do with where I was in my life in 1993/1994... personal attachment to the songs playing in the background with the company I kept back then.

 glad you didn't... made another fan happy for that free space 8-)

Yield is fantastic but all albums are good and bad.
Only the first release of Ten hit me real hard. All songs are super.
    Vs also... every song mindblowing.
After that they always managed to put at least on song on the album i just don't wanna hear.

Yield was way ahead of its time in the Pearl Jam catalogue.

As was No Code before it.

See Low Light for what I think is Pearl Jam's finest recording.

It's a shame that so many tracks from this album don't get aired live. Some haven't been played in 10 years!

  • Yield is a fantastic album. It's the first PJ album I ever bought. And despite hearing them before I have never knew who the singers of Evenflow, Alive and Spin the Black Circle were. I went through a massive dance music spell and Yield really got me back into rock music. Still Brain of J's intro blows me away.

Defo one of my favourite albums of all time let alone by PJ.
    :D Rock on!!!! :D
Seen Pearl Jam 4 times in London, once in Manchester, as well as an Eddie show at Hammersmith.
  • Yeild is the best PJ album it is even greater on Vinyl. If someone said I am going to take all your PJ albums and dvd's and i'll leave you with one item...... I'd choose my Yeild Vinyl album, greatest album and tour id say!

now watch me get shot down.

    Moving away from Rock?

They already did that when they made No Code..

The new stuff is some of their best. Give it a chance!

I've been worshipping them since the summer of '93, but have got to say, Riot Act, Avocado and its looking like Backspacer will make up my top three from them. I think they just keep getting better and better.

Yield is a fantastic album. A good mix for me. Not much else I can say about it really except that unfortunatley I'm probably the only person here that's not too fussed about Do the Evolution. I'm probably very stupid/an ignoramous/not a fan/an arse or whatever anybody else would like to call me for saying that. But the rest of the album is fantastic. :)
  • I agree...I was very young when Yield came out and though I was a huge PJ fan...I didn't really get it. I started listening to the album a few years back and fell in love. Wish I would have dug it from the beginnning but thats the beauty of PJ's music.
  • in my opinion, yield is the greatest album of all time.
