"Black" and "Water" (The Who)
I never noticed it before, but the main riff from "Black" sounds similar to the riff that is briefly played a few times at the beginning of "Water", from Who's Next.
I'm not calling it a rip-off or anything, just some similarity in that riff. The rest of the two songs are absolutely nothing alike.
I "rediscovered" Who's Next yesterday...what a great album! I love when I put on an album that I haven't listened to in years and instantly fall back in love with it!

thank you for your keen attention to detail.
sorry, now that I read my remark, that sounded really harsh...didn't mean for it to! Seriously, thanks for the heads-up.
haha...no worries. just seemed a bit sarcastic, but i'm completely sarcastic so it's all good.
just to be extra kit-picky, Water was actually written for an album that was supposed to be released in 1970, but never was. the version from isle of wight is amazing.
that being said, yes, the riffs are similar.
was the project called lifehouse? :P
That's freakish: I listened to Water less than two hours ago and thought about this for the first time. Quite possibly a "quotation"
not lifehouse. this was the post-Tommy, pre-lifehouse project. I don't even know myself was another track recorded for it.
This is true.
