"Black" and "Water" (The Who)

I never noticed it before, but the main riff from "Black" sounds similar to the riff that is briefly played a few times at the beginning of "Water", from Who's Next.

I'm not calling it a rip-off or anything, just some similarity in that riff. The rest of the two songs are absolutely nothing alike.

I "rediscovered" Who's Next yesterday...what a great album! I love when I put on an album that I haven't listened to in years and instantly fall back in love with it!

  • sorry to be a nitpicker, but water is not a who's next song. it's a bonus track on the remastered edition.

just to be extra kit-picky, Water was actually written for an album that was supposed to be released in 1970, but never was. the version from isle of wight is amazing.

that being said, yes, the riffs are similar.

That's freakish: I listened to Water less than two hours ago and thought about this for the first time. Quite possibly a "quotation" :)
... and the will to show I will always be better than before.

not lifehouse. this was the post-Tommy, pre-lifehouse project. I don't even know myself was another track recorded for it.

I'm pretty sure Water was meant for Lifehouse...just listen to the lyrics.
  • Love Aint For Keeping is an underrated gem from Whos Next. 1 of those albums you can put on and not worry about skipping any songs....although im not a big fan of Goin Mobile
