Uh oh... my nephew is obsessed with vinyl records.

He's 6 years old and today he asked what the machine in the corner of my family room did. Naturally, I showed him and threw in the 2008 Christmas single. I don't know if it's just in the genes, but the kid fell in love with Garden State and was begging me to let him drop the needle to start the song. Now every half hour he keeps asking if we can listen to Garden State and when that's over, we have to listen to a few songs from Riot Act. One of the coolest things this kid has ever done. The coolest part is that he keeps saying things like "Man, I love this record."
And then his 17-month old sister heard the music and came out and started dancing! Pretty awesome to see. I hope the obsession sticks with the nephew.

The demo of Golden State on the '08 single is nice in a work-in-progress kind of way, but I prefer the final version on John Doe's Golden State single. The original version is awesome too and the rest of John Doe's A Year in the Wilderness is one of the best albums I have heard lately!
P.S. Whoever sent me John Doe's Golden State single, thank you so much it has really influenced the albums I have been listening to. I would PM, but I didn't save my PMs from the message pit. :(
