You cannot legislate the poor into prosperity by legislating the wealthy out of prosperity. What one person receives without working for, another person must work for without receiving. The government cannot give to anybody anything that the ...gover......nment does not first take from someone else. You cannot multiply wealth by dividing it.

And the president took for granted, writing checks on others pay!!!!!

Aren't we still paying to debts we incurred from the Viet Nam War? And the Iraq War alone... our kids will be paying for that one.
I don't understand how anyone is surprized how things are done around here.

I don't think anyone is looking to get the poor into the penthouse. How about giving them a hand up? Or is stepping over them like they don't exist acceptable?

That all depends on what you say...
For example, if you say, "I ain't gonna do anything that Obama says... I ain't listenin' to no nigger."
Then, yes, you will probably be called a racist by someone... so, it's not a fair bet.

dude i am sorry, but i doubt that the wealthy "will fall out of prosperity" like you say. you need to stop being so dramatic. the sky is not falling down on our heads.....what do they say, wealth creates more wealth? so i am sure you will be fine....as if the public option is going to pass anyway.

i am happy for your success but i resent your selfishness in this situation. most people on here have said they are not completely against health care reform and most of them have said they would not be opposed to paying some extra taxes to make sure everyone has coverage. i think that this is quite a reasonable proposition.

here is an idea, you look out for yourself and your family and when you get to age 65 don't use medicare, rather be self insured. that will free up a few thousand a year that can be used by someone else. we are all in this situation together and i believe we have a moral responsibility to help each other out and guarantee health care coverage for everyone.

It's called paying taxes. Something you've been doing for years. Nothing new there. I don't hear anybody here complaining when their tax money is being spent on murdering over 1 million Iraqi's in a bullshit war. I just hear people complaining about their tax money being spent on helping sick people at home. Go figure!

I'm not wealthy by any means, and I work hard and earn what little I do have and i'm proud of that......maybe you should try it.

And oh ya,when we're 65 do you really think that government health care is really going to care about you under this new reform?...NOT! Have you heard of the Czars?

i do work hard for what i have. i have my career, a part time business, and my band, all of which contribute to my wealth and my decent net worth. you should not presume that just because i am for single payor health insurance that i am poor and wanting to live off of your taxes. i do just fine on my own thank you very much. i just recognize there is a problem with the health care system and i do not mind paying taxes to care for the least of god's people. but since you are offering me a suggestion on how to live my life let me say this to you, maybe you should try having some compassion and a little humanity for those less fortunate than you.

I'm not asking Glen Beck.. I'm asking YOU. What did Glen Beck teach YOU about the 'Czars' and why are they going to be my downfall when i turn 65?
If you know nothing about the 'Czars', then you should not refer to them in your arguements.

If he meant Beck (Hanson) then... okay, a benefit of the doubt because I like Beck and would have figured there was a new song about the Czars or Cosacks or Anastasia or the BattleShip Potyomkin.
If he meant Jeff Beck... then, i'm in. Jeff Beck is the original bad-ass guitarist.
