what if PJ's albums were released in a different order?

What if Pearl Jam released their albums in a different order. For example, what do you think would happen if binaural was released first, or no code, or yield, or riot act? Do you think you still would of liked the band as much as you do now? Perhaps more or less? What if your LEAST favorite album was your first impression of Pearl Jam? Would you even bother trying to listen to their other stuff?

They gained the early stardom because of how anthemic and powerful Ten is/was. I can't imagine any other album, except maybe VS (and maaaaaybe Vitalogy, especially without the weird songs), really capturing fans the way Ten did. I mean, sure you hear stories of people falling in love with PJ because of some of the more recent albums, but clearly the masses hopped on board because of the intensity, fist in the air, powerful backbone of Ten. Ten was a perfect album with perfect timing. I'm not sure anything past Vitalogy would have perked up the masses' ears the same way. Can you imagine No Code going up against Nevermind, Badmotorfinger and Facelift/Dirt? I love No Code, but it would have been buried in the mix as the younger fans were latching on to the angrier and harder music that was taking over the airwaves.

If VS and Vitalogy were their most recent releases I'd be psyched because that means I'd be able to hear those songs live played they way I prefer them to sound, as opposed to now.

They would have never been as big and maybe never heard of at all. Not to say PJ isn't great, just that it's damn near impossible to make it as a band, at all. To the extent that they have? Well that just crazy talk... It takes more than being an amazing band with great music to get to be a band the stature of PJ.
