Anyone seen this? I watched it the other day. I know Eddie Vedder is a fan of this movie as he's recently mentioned it a few times in interviews. He said it was an inspiration for his writing of the 'Into the Wild' soundtrack.

I thought it was a pretty good movie - quirky. Great soundtrack by Cat Stevens.

UNCUT: 'What were your inspirations when you wrote the soundtrack to Sean Penn’s Into The Wild?' (Irene Mariani, Italy)

EDDIE VEDDER: 'When I was 12, I remember seeing the movie, Harold And Maude, a film that is accompanied by several Cat Stevens songs. Cat’s voice represents the interior voice of the character throughout the movie, and he does it absolutely perfectly.

It’s a perfect synergy between film and music, and it really inspired me to try writing for film. Take the final scene, where it looks like Harold is going to drive off the cliff, with the rain hitting the windshield, and you know how he feels. Suddenly they play “Trouble” by Cat Stevens, and it’s utterly overwhelming, heartbreaking. So seeing it work there made me think I could give it a go.'

Not to age myself...but I had to write a paper about this movie in college for Abnormal Psychology class. My prof was a huge hippie and I loved him! It was 1986, but I remember the first time I saw that movie. A true classic.

One of my favorites. Our 12th grade AP English teacher had us watch it, I think before winter break or something. The way she cut it up into segments was classic, too. I still own it on VHS. And yeah, the soundtrack is brilliant. Ed's comments are dead on.

Good movie. Great soundtrack. I saw that movie for the first time when I was in camp on a bus. Definitely not the optimal way to see it, so I had to go out and watch it again.

If you want to sing out sing out!

That is one interesting movie. I first saw it about 20+ years ago, and I maybe saw it 10 years ago(?) It's hard to forget as it's pretty unusual, and the songs are great.

A friend introduced me to this movie several years ago, and I cannot thank her enough.

It is a charming film! One of the few movies that I can put on when I'm really down, and know I will for sure cheer up.

Growing up, totally loved this movie.

In middle school my friends and I made a video of us playing fake instruments to Cat Stevens 'Ghost Town'. :o
  • the cosmic dance

    i get that
  • Now I'm really going to age myself here. I saw the movie when it first came out. I was in high school, and saw it on a date. I loved it so much that I saw it again the next weekend -- on another date with a different guy. Several years ago I introduced my kids to it -- and it was as good as I remembered.
