Dear Guitar Hero 5 programmers....FUCK YOU!!!!!

When this guitar hero/rock band stuff started, I quickly condemned it as completely stupid and said that the people who play it should pick up a real guitar. I thought the South Park "Guitar Queer-o" episode hit the nail on the head. But I recently started softening my stance as I saw some of the previews of The Beatles Rock Band. Not only does the game look like a good tribute to the band, but it seems like it'll serve as a bit of a history lesson for young fans who would never take the time to watch the Anthology like a normal person.
But today I saw a clip from Guitar Hero 5 which reiterated two things that I strongly believe in:
1. Guitar Hero is lame.
2. Courtney Love is a whore.
Kurt Cobain is a unlockable character in Guitar Hero 5. There's nothing wrong with that. He's not the first legendary rocker to be included in the game (Slash and Tom Morello). Last week, I saw a video from the game of Kurt singing Smells Like Teen Spirit. There's nothing wrong with that either.
But there IS something WAY wrong with this: Kurt can be used to sing any song. Wanna hear Kurt yell "YEAH BOY" like Flava Flav? Wanna see him sing "You Give Love a Bad Name" by Bon Jovi? Well here ya go: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-UuAoEW5MbI
I repeat...it's an animated Kurt Cobain singing Bon Jovi. Fuck you Courtney.

Kurt was always chasing pop stardom anyway. He really brainwashed people into thinking he didn't wanna be famous, didn't he? Why did they have a video for every song and why was Kurt pretty well continuously on MTV for the 4 years of his fame?

... but for the record, it's not the "programmers" you should be damning ... they just do what they are told, if you want to get pissed at the product managers and the execs, then have at it.

whoever the guy is who conceived Kurt Cobain singing Bon Jovi...THAT'S the guy I damn!

coming from hearing stories from people who used to work with cobain, he probably would have found it funny.
He was a normal dude, not a rock god
I agree with this. I remember him really like Weird Al's parody of Teen Spirit even though it completely makes fun of him and his singing. It's the Courtney factor that annoys me.

well personally, if my wife was the bread winner of the family, ended up getting hooked on drugs, shooting herself in the head, and leaving me as a single father of an toddler, I think I would milk out all of the cash that I could get in order to support myself and my kid.
EDIT: of coarse if I went that route, I wouldn't be attempting to live the high life in LA, and getting hooked on drugs myself.
the whole band will be playable in the PJ rock band that comes out in 2010!
I hope so!

That was my first reaction too! Damn!
This is nothing new in terms of Courtney. She's been doing this all along.
There's a lot more than that, if you count
Aerosmith
Metallica
Rocks the 80s
Van Halen
Smash Hits
(Jeff Tweedy, Sydney 2007)
“Put yer good money on the sunrise”
(Tim Rogers)
however, i think a LOT of people are going a little overboard with this guitar hero "pick up a REAL guitar" argument. it's just a game people! it allows little kids who can't really pick up a guitar yet (like, if your parents don't have the money to buy a guitar that would just collect dust in a corner when the kid gets interested in something else after a month) to feel like they're playing guitar and learn some kick ass songs they wouldn't normally listen to. i know some people on this board play with their little kids as like a family game night, how awesome is that? and rock band got my brother into bob dylan and rolling stones this way, he usually listens to disturbed and korn... plus, it can be the catalyst that gets people to pick up a real guitar.
bottom line, it's just a game. if it gets people listening to cool songs and playing music, great. if it's a catharsis after a hard day at work, great too.
