others bands with obsesive fans?

I just finished my PJ vinyl collection, and i wanted to start collecting vinyls from other bands that, I checked RHCP and STP and the fan community is very weak (at least for what i saw on their Forums) i haven't check Radiohead yet but i was wondering if there's any other band with such strong fan base like PJ?

Here on the board we can ask about any little tiny detail about pearl jam and we have people with (almost) masters and PHDs for PJ, and some very very VERY dedicated colletors with a vast knowlegde of PJ memorabilia. so again is any other band this "lucky"?

Thanks

TOOL and Radiohead are the first two that come to mind.

I'm sure there are many others, also. (i.e. Phish, etc)

Just a guess U2, they sell out almost every show, or people just go because it's U2.

But Pearl Jam fans are probably the most obsessive, loyal to them.

Springsteen for sure. Queues start stupidly early, even compared to PJ queueing.

I liken to the Grateful Dead.

Especially with the four nights in one city, with fans buying tickets for multi-nights, knowing that Pearl Jam is a band, like the Dead were, that DON'T have basic same set list for entirety of tour.

In other words, Pearl Jam DELIVERS. It's all their fault.

Yeah never understood why people bu U2 records, they haven't released anything worth listening too for years, my thoery is that people do it out of habit. I also think the same thing with Oasis fans, they buy the records because its Oasis and they were good in the 90's

tragically hip (canadian band) have a really similar following to pearl jam. Phish fans for sure though are some of the most hard core ive run into.

In fairness there are many many people the world that would replace the 2 bands you mention with the words pearl jam! Hate to say it but that's the way tons of people I know view this band! I kinda like that they're 'just ours' ;)

I don't understand why mainstream community approves of Springsteen obsession but looks down their noses at PJ manaics..

  • In the UK Oasis (who have now finally gone their seperate ways) had an awesome following, I know people who have seen them all over Europe. Burberry jackets optional of course. The Manic Street Preachers have always had a great fan base and are followed avildly. In Australia, Silverchair have a great fanbase although I don't know if that obsession stretches far past their own shores that much.
    :D Rock on!!!! :D
Seen Pearl Jam 4 times in London, once in Manchester, as well as an Eddie show at Hammersmith.

Not big in the US, but us Muse fans are pretty much obsessed. Check the muse.mu forums.

I guess I'm already a rather obsessed PJ fan, but that's really not a bad thing. I regard Muse as a rather close 2nd in my list of phenomenal bands.

A whole lot of people would say the exact same thing about PJ

Well, Springsteen does have an 18-year head start... if PJ can release anything as good as "Magic" in the 2020s/30s, you'll be able to wear your crown with pride ;)
And I listen for the voice inside my head... nothing. I'll do this one myself.
