Didn't see a topic about this yet but I just wanted to express how much I love this band. You have to agree that audioslave is probably one of the best "supergroups" of the 2000's. Three solid albums in under 4 years is one awesome achievement.

The first album was one of the best records I've ever heard period, the second one was very good, but I can't ven remember the third :? I guess it wasn't that good IMHO.

Def one of the best super groups, I spent alot of time in high school listening to Audioslave. I gained so much respect for Tom Morello as a guitarist with his unique solos for each song. I love their songs. I've gone back and found favorites that I didn't even know about from their records (at this point, Yesterday to Tomorrow and Moth). I think they just got better and better with each album. Hope we see something again from them at some point.

I agree! I am a big fan of Audioslave!! All 3 albums rock .......

ditto, did see rage live though, that was pretty kickass
  • I saw Audioslave twice. Its a damn good show when you get to hear tunes from Audioslave, Soundgarden, and Rage all in one night. Studio albums were really good, live they absolutely kicked ass. As a side note, I have seen Rage, Soundgarden, Audioslave and Chris Cornell all seperately over the years. Hell ya!

you should listen to it again. I think it's a lot better than the 2nd album.

  • Big Audioslave fan here as well! They meant a lot to me and still do, they were the first band that myself and my fiancee got into "together", if you see what I mean. We saw them 3 times - London Astoria Jan '03 (early days!), Brixton Academy London June '03 and Brixton Academy London June '05.

I remember the build up and excitement surrounding the rumours, then the demos leaked in May '02... man they were good days. Good community too, remember audioslaved.com? There was a good taping / trading scene back then, loads of shows were recorded. I agree with all those who say the albums progressively got better as well. Christ, just realised how much I miss them :(

I saw them twice too. First time was amazing . First tour, so just the first album. They did a great cover of Seven Nation Army though.
The second time I saw them was a festival date and by that stage they'd started to include Soundgarden and Rage songs. It wasn't the best overall, but Black Hole Sun was great.

Love them though. All three albums are brilliant imo.

  • i wouldn't be here on this board if it weren't for audioslave.

when they came out, i was about 12-13, just about getting into music, and i thought they were the greatest thing ever. everything was just so pure; their first album was full of just raw and powerful energy. my friend was sick one time so i came over with a burned copy of their first album. his jaw dropped after a whole listen through.

but anyways, getting into audioslave allowed me to get into chris cornell and soungarden thereafter, and after that, i was introduced to the entire grunge scene, including pearl jam.

my first concert ever was seeing audioslave at the garden. all i can say is that it was simply amazing.

so, yeah, i've got a lot of thanks for this band.
Beavis: All my friends are brown and red? What does that mean?
Butthead: It means that his friends are like turds and that they like suck.
Beavis: Heh heh. Oh yeah. Yeah! Get those spoons out of my face before I shove them up your butt!
    Butthead: Huh huh.

The first album is a great rock album that will stand the test of time.

Out of Exile was good, too. Not nearly the staying power for me, though

    The 3rd was an abomination.

I disagree man. It's not the greatest album ever by any means but it's certainly not an abomination by any means. Revelations, One in the Same, Sound of a Gun, Original Fire, Broken City, and Moth are all good tunes.

Yeah, their first album came out at a time when rock music needed it. Desperately. It truly is a solid album from start to finish. I still listen to it very very often, you can't deny how good it is.

Their second was not bad at all, but their third was....yeah, meh.

One of the best live shows I saw was Audioslave on Lollapalooza 2003. Supporting their first album, they kicked some SERIOUS ass.
