"well-intentioned" funny you use that phrase.
All of the songs I listed are the best versions that I've heard. Symantics with Fav vs best. I added some comments after I selected a song, sorry I didn't meet the demands, I was just adding additional commentary about the show...I shouldn't have.

Please describe how I was not well intentioned. I posted a thread I had high hopes for, and it got derailed. I tried getting it back on track, and you called me an ass.
It may be semantics in your mind, but that's exactly why I tried to really lay "ground rules" of sorts in my initial post. Favorite does not always = best. I have favorite versions from shows I was at because I remember being swept up in the moment, the band was on fire, the lights were perfect, the energy was manic...but I know afterwards (be it 1 minute later, or weeks later after listening to the bootleg) that it was not a contender for best ever. Still, those moments are very special to me and will forever be etched in my brain.
I am confused as to why you are continually fighting this. I am not trying to be a jerk. I've been in discussion with you in threads before and you seem like a decent person. In this case I laid out a very specific idea that I thought was interesting. Why do you continually have to roll your eyes as if I am some big monster trying to attack you? Lighten up! If you don't have something to add to a thread, you don't have to add anything. You don't have to get defensive when the OP tries steering the thread back on course.
Bright eyed kid: "Wow Typo Man, you're the best!"
Typo Man: "Thanks kidz, but remembir, stay in skool!"
Call me crazy but I would say "Betterman" from Mansfield (Boston) night 1 last year. I have heard this song countless times but when the crowd got so loud after singing the first verse that Eddie had to wait almost at least a minute before continuing the song it was surreal.

Sorry again but I just read the correspondence and I have one question...Why the hell are most people so damn touchy?
This was a great post.
I like the fact that the person stated NOT FOR YOU Hartford 96 cause then I can go listen and appreciate the song.
OH YEA State of Love and Trust Hartford 96 Ed flips out and then rocks it.
Not sure if you are commenting on my post but i think most people in this thread are. I was just pointing out logically how this thread has its problems, i answered the question too. Whats the problem, seems like if you don't write some epic wall of text about how you love pearl jam then you are being 'touchy' or some shit.
people have sensitive nerves in nowdays...and there is no Great post if there is no Athens 2006 in..
"...Dimitri...He talks to me...'.."The Ghost of Greece..".
"..That's One Happy Fuckin Ghost.."
“..That came up on the Pillow Case...This is for the Greek, With Our Apologies.....”
Buffalo 2003 had a lot of 'best versions' for me:
Alive, Smile, Sonic Reducer, People Have the Power, Yellow Ledbetter
Also,

Toronto 2003: Betterman

Eddie's best vocal delivery, his screaming on "another, another, another WAAAY", is the best.
Not the best, but the most interesting version of NAIS Detroit 2000. Eddie murders the lyrics and the band loses its rythm only to regain it during the jam out after the bridge. Very intense angry jam.
In Hiding from the Vic...The crowd made it by taking over the chorus.
That was pretty good.
There can be NO DEBATE that these are the best versions of these songs:
Swallow My Pride - Vegas '93
I Used To Work in Chicago - Vic '07
No other versions even come close.
Seriously, Crown of Thorns - Vegas '00 was pretty damn magical. Then again, I'm sure it always is.
If I had known then what I know now...

The 7/5/03 version is incredible for sure! Of the versions I have seen, I can easily see giving that one a nod.
