Not sure if this has been posted but I nearly crashed my car this morning when I heard the Fixer on Ian Dempseys Breakfast Show. Ian normally plays standard chart hits on his show so I was absolutely stunned to hear it on...then to top it all off at the end of it he announced that The Fixer is actually his SONG OF THE WEEK WTF

It probably means nothing to most of you but, seriously, the last time PJ got any coverage like this on a mainline show was back in the mid-nineties...this is huge!

8-)

Yesterday I was dancing around the kitchen to The Fixer on Absolute Radio ... I was in a similar state of gleeful shock  ... can't remember the last time I heard PJ on that station.

They even threw in a plug for the Backspacer release :D

Did ruin it a bit be saying 'it's great to have Pearl Jam back' after it finished
So are we strangers now? Like rock and roll and the radio?

Ha awesome. Wish I'd have heard it. I've only heard it on Phantom the last few weeks, so that's great. Next we'll be hearing it in clubs around D'Olier Street!

They constantly play The Fixer on Phantom. I've heard it at least 3-4 times now, and I only listen while driving which isn't that often!

Ian is a nice guy though! He plays some gems at 7 in the morning to really get ye in a good mood for the day. I remember Mark McCabe (yes, of Maniac 2000 fame) played songs from Riot Act and Avocado when they were being released, he was a huge fan!

Haha never thought Mark McCabe and PJ would ever be mentioned in the same sentence

For those that dont know, Ian Dempsey has probably the biggest breakfast show on radio in Ireland :o:lol:

I'm more surprised you have radio in Ireland... but then i suppose there has to be someway of contacting the public about the latest potato crop reports.

I've only seen the Backspacer Ad on MTV2... just a wee 20 second thing.. but still cool! 8-)
oh scary... 40000 morbidly obese christians wearing fanny packs invading europe is probably the least scariest thing since I watched an edited version of The Care Bears movie in an extremely brightly lit cinema.

  • Haha snap! :D

Yeah Ian played Alive a couple of weeks ago, I was really astounded and it made my day! Also The Fixer was Tony Fentons Daily Download on Monday last week :)

I know PJ will never be played as much as KOL on Irish radio (thats physically impossible) but its very encouraging for Backspacer in Ireland! Hope it beats ST and gets in the top 3, that'd show them KOL bastards!
    Crowd: "UUUUUKKK!"
Eddie: "I see you've acknowledged the Ukulele"
    Crowd: "UUUUUUUUKKKKK!!!"
Eddie: "Too bad this is a mandolin you uncultured bastards"
