i'm right there with you during certain times of the year...or depending on what chaos is happening. but those are the joys of retail!! today i got caught up helping out with shoplifters...so it's my 2nd 13 hours day in a row...i feel like i'm going to lose it! but this doesn't happen too often...and it's back to school, so it comes with the territory.

i'm sorry that you have to deal with that for the next couple of weeks :( hopefully you can have somewhat of a good times??! is that possible at work??!
  • i thought i was the only one pulling this 16hr workdays, can't wait for vacation

Yep, I'm going to be putting in some "quality" time this fall.
In the next two months, I have to go to around 10 different cities and will be home for probably 1/10th of the time. "Living in a plane and in a Hilton".
    Not looking forward to it!

i dont even do that much work in a week.
oh scary... 40000 morbidly obese christians wearing fanny packs invading europe is probably the least scariest thing since I watched an edited version of The Care Bears movie in an extremely brightly lit cinema.
  • i probably do 75% of my annual workload in 4 - 2week windows of time each year: march, april, september and october. the joys of tax compliance. :D thank bejeebus it only lasts 2 weeks at a clip. i remember last october, i worked about 70 hours of overtime in 2 weeks(lost a whole weekend in the process too). i took 2 days of sick leave when it was over...just to recoup and sleep. :?

sam....i remember doing inventory working retail, and that was a 12-14 hour day....but otherwise, even during the holiday season....never worked more than 8.5 hours in a day. retail was definitely more fun in that regard.

my work is all about being uber organized and detial oriented, and i like that....but pitted against really tight deadlines, it's just STRESS. bring on september 15th!

i knew i wasn't alone in working some sick hours, seems almost all fields have their peak times of busyness.

oh, and due to budget constraints, looks like a few of our busy season perks have been cut out this season - no pizza fridays or weekly 15 minute massages. damn, those were good. however, still get dinner coverage and car service home...so the important stuff is covered. hopefully when the economy turns around, the perks will return too!

I just got back from Spokane (was there for 2 days).
Down to Mesa, then to Chicago for a week of meetings. From there, I fly to Connecticut for another week of meetings. Fly back to Phoenix for the weekend, then have two LA trips the following week.

    Then Orlando for 3 days.

    Fuck!

I guess I can't complain. Seems like 10% of the country has it a lot worse than I do!!

do you actually do any "work"...or do you just fly off to different cities to attend meetings? ;)

    j/k.

i love to travel, but traveling for work, with little to no free time to actually enjoy the travel, and just the hassles of airports, connections, etc....yea....bleck.

i left the office at 8pm last night....unheard of during busy season. i actually got to see my husband last night. :D i am sure next week is going to be far worse tho, looks like a lot of the work won't come thru until then. yikes.

Last week, they fired my coworker. All of her duties fell on me, which is great as I have zero html knowledge.
We hired a new girl, who starts on Monday, but I'm in for at least another month of 10-12 hour days.
Thankfully, I really like my job.

yikes. a month? that does suck. glad you like your job tho!
(you'll have to tell me all about it in philly! :))

well, i worked until 1 am monday, 8 pm tuesday....and wednesday and thursday, went home on time. this does not bode well for next week. at ALL. i think working until 1 am every night of the week will be the norm, if not later. :? working saturday and sunday next weekend is almost a given. b/c even today, i came into work 'hoping' for some piles of work to be waiting, and....nada. all our client work is backed up, needs review, etc, etc.....so that just means it gets to me and my colleague later and later, but it still has to be out by september 15th. yikes.

    ouch!
i can't imagine those kinds of hours. i would guess medical or emergency services(ambulatory, fire, etc).......
    i feel for you both.

i do know tho, some people do like those hours b/c of the time off inbetween, and sure....getting paid to sleep on the job. ;) i have quite a few nurses in my family, couple of firemen friends....so yea.

yikes....just did the math. since 08.31 i've worked 63.20 hours of OT. all of those hours were worked over the course of 9 days for a total of 119.20 hours. ouch. that did hurt. made a lot of $$$....but i'd rather have my own time, and sleep!
