Will the boys have some sort of album release party in Seattle the weekend the album comes out? Autographs or a meet and greet of some sort.

What do you think?

I emailed the manager of Easy Street a few weeks ago and he said there would be a release party midnight Saturday the 19th at the West Seattle location.

naive question perhaps, but is this going to be tough to get into? (ie long line outside the building?)

I don't think I've ever been where they are turning people away at the door...but it can get QUITE crowded. If you don't get there super early, don't plan on a seat in the cafe...but this just gives you ample time to browse the aisles for other new music you might want to purchase.

*Edit - And I'll see you guys there!

If you order Backspacer through Play.com in the UK, there's a competition to win tickerts to the "album launch gig in Seattle"

Win tickets to Pearl Jam's Backspacer album launch gig in Seattle!

Seattle alt-rockers Pearl Jam make a welcome return to form with their ninth studio album, Backspacer. Their first record with producer Brendan O'Brien (Vs., Vitalogy, No Code) since 1998's Yield, the grungers who hit it big in the nineties are back to their explosive best. Putting the fierce political rants of previous releases behind them, Eddie Vedder and the boys have created a supreme collection of rock tunes fused with elements of pop, punk and new wave that speak from the heart, producing what they believe to be their best material in over a decade.

To celebrate the release of the supersonic Backspacer, we're giving you the opportunity to win a trip for two people to watch Pearl Jam play live at the Key Arena, Seattle, on September 21st 2009. With two tickets to the gig, return flights and three night's accommodation, the winner will find themselves slap bang in the middle of grunge central and the hometown of Pearl Jam!

Ok so it's lazy writing ('the grungers who hit it big', 'grunge central') but the prize includes flights from London to Seattle, 2 gig tickets and accommodation so it's pretty sweet. As if I need another pre-order of this damn album!
