Does this make me stupid (Backspacer CDs related)?

Am I just an over-obsessed fan, or am I spending a little more money than needed, in regards to Backspacer?
1. I have ordered two copies through 10C - one to look at/listen to, and the other to keep untouched (just like Avocado)
2. I'm thinking of pre-ordering Backspacer through iTunes to get it at 11pm on 9/19.
3. I'll be going to Target on 9/20 to buy Backspacer.

Am I going overboard here?

Yes... or no. Depending on who you ask. ;)

If you have the disposable income to do this without harming yourself then go nuts.

Are you still going to purchase through iTunes if 10C ships it early?

I bought the CD version from 10C and will probably order the LP as well. I'll consider picking one up from Target if it comes with any exclusive bonus content. I'll also be purchasing the RockBand version...so that's at least 3 versions for me :)

This may be the wrong place to ask if you're going overboard....

I've already spent about $28 through 10C (no biggy)
It will be 9.99 though iTunes (no biggy)
It'll be about 11.99 at Target (no biggy)

I would have spent about $50 for one new Pearl Jam album (WOW!!)

no need to buy the target version. the 10c version and target version are the same package. I'm buying one from the 10c and one from target and one from my local indie shop. my local indie shop had the self titled on an end cap a week before it was released, haha.

The economic climate only refers to the overall trend - I know many people (thankfully myself included) who (or whose family) have been nearly unaffected. My dad has had to work his ass off just to do as well as last year, but is thankful for that.

I'd say it's a bit overboard. I bought the CD and LP. I have a record player, so the LP will actually be listened to though I would have bought it anyway as a collector's item.

I am not going to download on iTunes or buy the Target version.

yeah that's ridiculous. Why not buy Backspacer now to listen to it and buy one to look at in 5 months time when it's on the discount rack?

I'm in no position to call anyone out for going overboard, but why preorder the iTunes version? If you haven't received your 10c version on Saturday, then just buy it at 11 pm...no need to preorder it.

I think I'd side with Eduardo on #2. You'll know mid-day Saturday the 19th if it did or didn't arrive from 10c. If you want it for Saturday night and can't wait for Target to open on Sunday, pull the trigger on iTunes.

I would say yes, but then I look at my profile and see the amount of money I've spent on Pearl Jam related things, ie concerts, posters, well that's it, and I can't really say you are. Although the C.D. kept in perfect condition will be like all of the baseball cards I have in my attic. Pretty worthless.

  • Mmm, I would never buy the same thing 3 times, I mean, for me it's about the music... don't really need three copies of the same thing.

But whatever, if it makes you feel better because you like to collect stuff to keep on a shelf... or downloading mp3s when you can easily import your own CD into iTunes...
Pople do stuff with their money that is much worse than that, you know? ;)

why not just buy a single copy and use the money from your planned multiple purchases to buy something from a struggling local band that needs support a little
    more than pearl jam.
