Pearl Jam's Music makes me happy to alive! But I do understand you situation, everything now seems like a downward spiral on life. From the war and laughable media that is so readily available for everyone. Sometimes the best medicine to all this madness is your own peaceful thoughts that come from things such as family, friends and randomness that goes along with life.

I don't know if 'proud' would be a word I'd use. but I'm very much happy and feel blessed to be alive. :)

I'm very sorry to hear about your friend.

I'm also very happy (and proud) to have some amazing friends around me, I love my family and music. oh music! what a beautiful thing in this world. I'm not sure if I've found my definite place in the world yet, but I'm sure there is one for me. :)

no problem about the post. i think we need something positive in the world atleast for a second.
  • hey mate, sorry about your friend. As for what makes me proud to be alive, is the hope that I can try to make this a better place for the following generations. If that fails then the challanges I set myself, such as running a marathon. But PJ's music has help me alot.

like random wookie stated giving yourself a long term goal like a marathon will make life special.

crossing the finish line of a race is a huge accomplishment and something you should be proud of.

exercise is what keeps me happy each day. if you don't give it a try, especially something you have never tried.

I recently taught myself how to swim on a competitive level, and it is great.

I now love just going to the pool and swimming underwater after doing laps. It's an unreal feeling probably the closet one can get to flying without jumping off a mountain or out of a plain.

    I love life.

I have the most incredible family and friends...without them, I don't know where I'd be.

I live in a great place, have a job I like, good health, i get to travel...everything that I'm a part of makes me happy to be alive.

    Sorry about your friend, fife.

I don't always feel lucky but I do feel blessed, especially when things aren't going well, like this last year. Having a daughter with Down syndrome threw me immediately on a path less traveled, and she reminds me every day, even in the smallest way, how lucky I am to have her. She's only 6, but she reminds me in the simplest way, that life is meant to be enjoyed and cherished. And to be happy. Health issues are common for her, but it's taught me how to be healthier and to always be proud to be healthy. No matter what. Health is usually easily overlooked when other factors get us down.

Thanks for the thread - it's unfortunate that negative threads tend to get more interest.

I'm very sorry to hear about your friend.

I was born with a heart disease, tetralogy of fallot, and I am part of the first group of tetralogy of fallot babies to make it past 28. I celebrated my 41st birthday last week, and I'm basically fit as a fiddle. Anytime I accomplish a running goal I throw my arms in the air, and start humming the Rocky tune (flying high now . . . )I'm very proud to be alive, and I'm very grateful for unconditional love in all the right places.

I'm happy and grateful for everything I have.

But "proud" of them I am not.

  • I am proud of my son (year and a half old) who learns new things everyday... he never ceases to amaze me with what he does or says.

I am proud of my wife who somehow manages to work a full-time job while taking our son to work with her everyday (and beyond thankful for her boss letting her and even being happy about it).

I am grateful for having a good job, a comfortable & safe home for my family, being surrounded by love everyday, and for being able to enjoy life.

I'm proud of the opportunities I've been given in my life from my parents, and the help and support I've received from them.

I'm proud of my friends who have always supported me, backed me up, and believed in me when I put my mind to something.

I'm proud of my girlfriend, who inspires me day in and day out and who loves me unconditionally.

I'm proud of all the people in my life, and all the people I've been lucky enough to come in contact with.

Life has always been a bit of a rollercoaster for me, so I'm proud I made it through so far.

My reasons for being happy and glad to be alive are pretty much the same as most people. Firstly my 12 year old son, every day I am so glad that I have been able to have a child and help him on his way through life. He was the best Christmas present I could ever have, born 25.12.96. I have a great husband - we are getting on particularly well at the moment, a great family, I like my job, my friends are really precious to me too.

There are current negatives, but I'm trying to focus on the positives right now.
