I wish the guys would play All Those Yesterdays more!

The thread on Single Video Theory got me thinking about the opening sequence where the guys are "clocking in" and All Those Yesterdays is playing. It's a great song although I can see how it would be a bit of downer live. Maybe this is why they've only played it 10 times and 2003 in Mansfield was the last time they did it. By the way, this version is without a doubt the best version I've heard of it. I've listened to all the times they've played it and out of 10, 2 or 3 of the times they messed it up pretty badly. Listen to the Minneapolis, MN. and you'll see what I mean. ;) Regardless, there are plenty of songs that they have that are slower tempo and they still play and this would even work as an alternative to Yellow Ledbetter as a final song. Well, here's to hoping they play it in Seattle on either night. I'd love to hear it in person. :)

now that EVERYONE has a vocal mic - i'd love to see a ridiculous 5 part harmony for the ending!

Although - i'll take a 4 part harmony as Stone would be solo'ing.

Would be a great set or encore opener.
"They said ... timing was everything
made him ... want to be everywhere
there's a ... lot to be said for nowhere."
  • My two favorite all-time "headphone" Pearl Jam vocal songs are this and Fatal. I would love to hear it live. It's funny you mentioned Single Video Theory too because just today I was listening to Do the Evolution's studio version and thinking how it always reminds me of the closing credits of Single Video Theory.
  • I would love this song on Halloween. Of course it seems that everyday I come on here and see another thread for another song I'd absolutely love to hear at that show.

I think what it really boils down to is that the boys are simply going to have to play the entire catalog on 10/31. There really is no other option.

But yes, awesome song that really should make some more appearances on the setlists.

Absolutely love this song...i think it would be special to hear live...i have heard some really slow tempo songs live and they have been highlights for me...Man Of The Hour was stunning both times I've heard it and Thumbing My Way even more so...I love both aspects to PJ...Blood/DTE/Comatose/Leash....Man Of The Hour/Off He Goes/Thumbing My Way/Fatal...all equally perfect in my opinion... :)

I couldn't agree more. Besides the state college acoustic version, the song has not been played particularly well, but I think it would be a perfect encore song! I love the guitar part at the end when Eddie sings "there's still time to escape...." gives me goosebumps. Stone wrote this song, even the lyrics, correct? Could this be a reason why it is so rarely played. It seems like Stone only songs (Fatal, Mankind, All Those Yesterdays) get notoriously omitted. I wonder if Stone has complete say over whether these songs get on the setlists, or if it is entirely up to Eddie.
I hold the pain, release me!

Don't forget to add No Way as another one of all-Stone

oh, and it's mansfield 3 acoustic, not state college - both great shows.

Right right. Mansfield. No Way would be great as well, although to translate well to live they may have to play it a little faster than the studio version. I bet Stone has to actually tell Eddie that he wants to play these songs on a particular night, otherwise it doesn't make in on the setlist.

  • Put me down on the dying to see ATY played again list..

I think if it was to be played again it could happen at one of the 4 Philly show's in October.. and I'm sure it will happen at the one I don't make it to.. I still get tears in my eyes when I think about how I made it to Night 1 and 2 Mansfield 2003 but couldn't make it to night 3. Of course night 3 is when they played the amazing acoustic pre set including ATY.. :o:cry:

I was lucky enough to hear it in 98, although I never thought it would be over 10 yaers before I might hear it again. It's also my wife's favorite PJ song and she hasn't heard it yet so that's the one she's been chasing for about 9 years now!

I'll be bringing a sign i've brought to some shwos to LA and if I'm lucky enough to be in the first few rows try to get it to them. I figure if I'm not in the first few rows they won't see it, so we'll see.
