You should watch Immagine in cornice, Ed's talking about it.
Beavis : Is this Pearl Jam?
Butt-head: This guy makes faces like Eddie Vedder.
Beavis: No, Eddie Vedder makes faces like this guy.
Butt-head: I heard these guys, like, came first and Pearl Jam ripped them off.
Beavis: No, Pearl Jam came first.
    Butt-head: Well, they both suck.

I went to Sydney #2 on the Avacado tour and Eddie said that Sydney #1 was fucking shit and he called up Bono and asked him if u2 got the same response.

At the end of Sydney #2, Ed said he was going to call Bono after the show and tell him 'we got em' back'.

Sydney #2 was a fucking awesome show.

Just a note it was sydney 2 that was shit. I never went to the 3rd show, but thats the one where the crowd redeemed themselves

In Europe, there are countries. Every member of that country is on the same page. The USA is made up of individuals. Its what makes us different and great but there will never be a show like that in the US for any band. Not in a million years. Its sad.

I really don't like that comment. It's completely false and I would query what you are basing that comment on?

If it's in relation to fans at a concert, they are at that concert because they like that band and want to be there. Walk outside the doors and its a whole different thing.

I agree, and on top of that, that clip isn't from a European show either.

Concerts are entertainment...I don't think how the crowd reacts should have nothing to do with how hard or how passionate the band plays...We all pay good money to get tickets...Don't get me wrong...I love to see the crowd show a lot of energy...But, some fans aren't going to be jumping up and down etc at shows....

The band pretty much goes that extra mile at every show to put on a kickass show...There may be a few shows here and there that they are off a little bit..Which is understandable..

I am sure when the bands see the crowd with great energy..It does inspire them to play longer or maybe even do something special.

After witnessing Chicago 2, I think the opposite is true... The band energizes the crowd. Ed had to practically beg the crowd to get into it and they still didn't early on, but once the put really put their money where there mouth was, it was on.

The point is that where the crowd don't need encourage to go apeshit, it can have the effect of driving the band to serve up an extra dose of HOLY FUCKBALLS!!!.

Sydney 2 is a great example where a non-compliant crowd dragged the band down. For Buenos Aires 1, looking at the setlist it seems a stock-standard show, but that's really the one set where people are best advised to completely disregard the list and focus on the overall atmosphere.

The crowd definately effects the bands energy. At MSG 2 in 98 the Garden crowd was beserk and the band was as on fire as I have ever seen. During Alive, Ed threw the microphone up around the lighting rig and hung there for the end of the song and the crowd almost blasted the roof off the place. In contrast, during Seattle 1 2000 Ed said the crowd " was like a timeout during a Sonics game while they were losing" and that "Boise was better than them" That show was average so I think it works both ways.

I have already wrote to several of my friends regarding this topic.

I would say crowd participation ON THIS TOUR, has not really affected PJ.

I went to Sheperd's Bush, Berlin, Manchester, London and both Chicago shows.

This is my opinion; I was absolutely blown away that PJ put on a show as good as the European shows, considering the crowd in the US blows! I don't blame the crowd as much as I blame the fact that there is no GA section for the US shows. This is what I feel affects crowd participation. Like I said, only my opinion and I love the US, so I'm really not dissing us. But I would love to see more GA shows in the states.

At the right show you can sense the energies of the band and the fan coming together and bringing the whole show to a new level. When it happens, there is no denying or writing it off...it's truly awesome.

    Don't drink and type, son...

And I definitely believe the band feeds off the crowd, as much as the crowd feeds off the band. I've played in a few bands in my time, and when the crowd is into it, it lifts you to a whole other level. GA seems to be the problem - no rock band worth its salt should be playing in a place that has seats in front of the stage - leave the chairs to the stand areas and let the fans go nuts in front of the stage!!
And I listen for the voice inside my head... nothing. I'll do this one myself.

Do you think this is a PJ decision, I guess it would have to be, but I cannot understand why they would want to have it this way??? I would love to have GA shows in the states! Should we start a petition? ;)

Philly night four (halloween show for those of you mathematically challenged) should be a GA show for 10c MEMBERS. They are gonna tare that place down anyways, they should let us fuck it up first.
