It pays to be a Ten Club Member

I'm still reeling from the Toronto show a week later. I've been a huge fan since 92 and remember sitting around with my buddies getting drunk listening to Ten. I've had a membership at least 3 times since the mid-90's and now have a shitty number that starts with 420XXX. I'm not complaining as I still get great tickets to Canadian shows but on Friday, August 21st I WON THE LOTTERY and my seats were 102 row B!!!

I've been pumped for months since I bought the tickets for this show and gave my extra fan club spot to one of my buddies, he is a casual Pearl Jam fan but loves going to concerts and music in general. Because the CNE was opening the same day of the show and because it's a mess at the best of times to get parking down there my wife and I made a plan for the day and she followed me in from Mississauga at 8am and was one of the first vehicles in the Amphitheater parking lot. We went back home and chilled for a while, then she drove me back down to tail gate around 3pm.

I picked up my Ten club tickets at around 3:30pm that day and found out my seat numbers but we still thought they were the second row of the seats just behind the GA. On the way out of the line I was speaking to a scalper as we were still looking for an extra and he asked to see my tickets, I showed him, he said they were good and offered me $500 bucks for the pair, I just laughed at him and we went back and drank for the next 4 hours.

Feeling good we headed into the show at about 8pm as we had to wait for another friend who was running late. I wanted to get in early and get a good shirt and catch some of Ted Leo, long story short, I missed the opening show with eddie and the band and didn't get a T-Shirt as they were out of the good ones. all that was left was to hit the Beer stand. SIDE NOTE, I've been reading some posts about long lineups at the beer stands but did you people actually know that there are two sides to the Amphitheater?????? whenever I'm there I always go to the far side for beer and it's always faster then trying to get some where everyone enters!!!
anyways, got a few beers and started to make my way down to the seats, through one security check point, through the next and realized that in fact we were second row !!!!!!! a couple of man hugs later and Phil Glass ripping and out came the boys!!!!! wowoowoooooooooooo.

Tough to smoke a few jays when you're that close but we managed.

This was my 10th show and the best by far, the energy the guys have this tour is incredible. I'll probably never be that close again and I just wanted to say a big thank you to TEN CLUB for that Honor.

My buddy that went with me says he'll never be able to pay me back for that concert experience!!!

Cheers and lets hope we see them come back again in 2010

P.S. how do I post some photos from the show?

EDIT
thanks guys, you can see the photos here

P.S. how do I post some photos from the show?

Nice recap. Congrats on winning the lottery!

RE: posting pictures... you'd have to have them hosted online through some service like dropshots or photobucket or flicker and provide either a link for people to view the pics directly from that sight, or make sure that they are small enough to insert into a message here. 10C has size limitations on how large a pic can be but they escape me at the moment.

    Hope that helps.

Yeah, having 305xxx as a number, and still getting great seats through the lottery, 10th row dead center mansfield last year, and getting third row for EV in Boston, they have been very good to me too.

Unreal experience that I thought was important to share.

I know many of the ten club members are against having a lottery for the first 2 rows but it really does give everyone a shot at an experience like this.

How do you know if you won the lottery? Do they tell you or do you just figure it out for yourself?

the seat location usually gives it away,...

I didn't realize those entire rows were lottery seats. That's a lot of seats! Better chance of winning!

I've been a member since March 1994, number 64XXX. In 2000, at Devore (San Bernardino) I was in the very first row, right in front of Stone. I'm able to see myself in TB2K during DTE (when Ed sings "I can kill cuz in God I trust." The camera behind Matt is pointing out towards the crowd at that second. That's the closest I've been. Other shows I'm in the 3rd or 4th row. Irvine 1 in 2003, I was in the 2nd row center stage.
