This is where I managed to get back to for PJ ... I took a few pics but they didn't come out to great ... but I took this one before the show.
I'm posting this as I have a question .... can any of you up front tell me what the significance of the Swedish Chef on a stick was? You can see him on top of the waves on the left of the pic.
We were wondering the same thing. He ended up being target practice using the many beach balls.

We assumed he was a marker for whoever was with the person holding it so that his/her friends could easily find him/her in a large crowd...

along with the head of the short photographer taking pictures in front of us.....that was target practice for the beach balls as well.

yeah, I thought that was it, but jeez, you're in the front row, how tough would it be to find someone there?
I was tempted to say to all the poeple in front of me, "Hey, see that Swedish Chef, they put that up so I could find them, can you let me thorugh?" That would have been believable, right? But, I didn't.
Here's a clearer shot of the ol' chef with an incoming beach ball ...

Did anyone check out The Beatles Rockband? I went early on Friday and didn't have much of a wait to play. Got in for two songs "I Want You (She's So Heavy)" and "Back in the USSR." Both were really fun, I was super impressed with the graphics and sound. I thought it was a pretty cool thing to have at the fest.
Here are some shots I took before my battery cashed out...enjoy.
nice pics... I took some, I'll try to put them later

Thanks for all the pics, guys and gals! I live in Sac and usually can make it to PJ/Eddie shows in the Bay Area, but couldn't make it to this one. Thanks again.
That was an incredible show. It was well worth the price! I cant wait to see them in Los Angeles in October. The Ames Brothers booth sold a package which included a limited edition poster, t-shirt and book. The poster and book were signed by the Ames Brothers themselves. I ended up buying two t-shirts from their booth and I spoke to Barry. What a cool guy he was. Excellent weekeend with Pearl Jam.
BTW- I'm the one getting ready to toss the crowd surfer over the rail in pic #35. Also I didn't realize that I was that much taller than people next to me on the rail.

We had a great time out there. My friend and I were along the rail right from the start of the day, front and center on Stones side!!! We met some great people, it was especially fun rockin out with the girls from Seattle (Jen and her friend who's name has unfortunately slipped my mind) who can be heard yelling out Seattle before small town. Was anyone that posts on here around that part? I would love to catch up with them.
While it was a greatest hits set, the band put everything they had into it. Ed's voice was a little off put still put on a very strong performance.
Saw the setlist that a girl got after the show. Inside job and In hiding were on the set to start the first encore but were not play.

Ed dude your a hawk finding pictures and stuff man.....
I see me in one of The National pics ... and I'm sure my hands are in some of those Cage The Elephant pics.
2 bands that I wish'd I'd seen. Oh well. I heard you say National was good, how bout CTE? Did you see TV on the Radio? I love them, wish I would have went Saturday.
The National:. Been listening to them for a few years, first time seeing them. Totally awesome, I don't know why these guys are not HUGE. Great to see them on one of the small stages, I was 15 ft from the stage. I've heard mixed reviews of their live shows, but they were great. Check them out!!
I posted a few pics here (should get some more up), they were fantastic!
Awesome pics, thanks for sharing. Brings back good memories of a great day in the park.

We were about 9 people to the right and about 9 people to the back of Chef Boyardee on a stick. Awesome show. I didn't feel it was a greatest hits show. They came out to rock, to show that they were the best rock band booked at the festival. And that they were. I was the closest I've ever been at a PJ show, though it was packed like sardines you could barely groove. We were right in front of Jeff about 20 rows back.
I thought the crowd was great. Sing alongs were powerful and not forced. During Black we started the accompanying 'doo doo do do doo doo do' and carried it through the whole end of the song. Ed ran his fingers on his forearms to the other guys in the band as if to say, 'i've got goosebumps'. I thought we might get the 'we belong together' tag but no. Still the best I've ever heard that song done.
Only thing that pissed me off was the idiot frat boy moshers that were drinking out of flasks, sparking up every song. There's no way any of them could remember where they were or how good this show was the next day. I was working really hard to keep them off the people in my area, finally one hit me pretty hard, I grabbed him, put him back into the spot next to me, he went to take off but couldn't because I still had hold of him. He turned and looked at me and I gave him a dirty look and yelled "DON'T... DO... THAT." and he got his idiot buddies to stop very quickly as well.
Almost everyone around me said this was their first PJ show before the show started. I was amazed by that. It's only my 3rd one. But that's what you get when you live in the south and were married to a woman that wouldn't let you go watch PJ when they used to tour the south back in 2000-2004.
I thought Silversun Pickups were 2nd only to PJ. They put on a hell of a performance.
I was the really tall guy with dark hair in a brown t-shirt and brown cargo shorts, if anybody remembers.
And thanks for that link to the pics from OLF. We were nowhere as close for sat night and DMB, but there was more room to groove that way, and wondered how packed it was from Fri night. Judging by those pics, it was every bit as packed Fri night for PJ as Sat night was for DMB.
I also checked out the rock band tent (very cool) and the Ames Bros tent on saturday. I bought the grey t-shirt with the kid mowing that has the grass clippings emerging as bombers. Also bought the black "BUILT TO LAST" hoodie and black "SANFRANCISCO AUG 28 09 PJTOUR09" t-shirt, along with an OLF long sleeve T.
EDIT:: the brown acid comment went, "I've been asked to pass along one public service announcement.... don't eat the brown acid... but the mushrooms are fine."

damn id love to see throw your hatred down live! i assume the last time PJ was at GGP was that time ed got really sick and neil had to fill in? thus the neil tribute finale...
looks like a pretty all around solid show... no CHI 2 but still good
Yes, your correct. The gap between the two of us is Monica.
