Sing Sweet Lew for the Spectrum

-Sweet Lew-
So, with all the looking back on the Spectrum before they demolish it, and Pearl Jam being the last band to play the place, this makes sense to me. He played many times at the Spectrum; regular games, All-Star Games, Play Off games, and Championship Games. Why not pay tribute to the man and the building? So the song is not on the Top-10 all time greates PJ songs, just look at the connection.
*And it would make Jeff happy!* :D

    Excellent idea. That's such a great song.
    I won't be in Philly, but my daughter will be on one of those nights, and she loves that tune.

    (So long, Spectrum. Saw many a fine show there, including Bob Dylan with The Band.)

    I have to admit, this is my least favorite PJ song. It might even be my least favorite song ever recorded in the history of the world! But.. I watched the video of it last night, and it didn't seem as bad live. I can live with it being played one time, and good for Jeff, but if they start playing it often, I will finally have my bathroom song!

They must have gotten wind of this thread somehow, even if they dont read the board someone obviously told 'em, like the push to play Leash back in '06 I've heard it live twice now because of fan demand. At least the boys listen to what we want to hear them play, they really put in 110%!

    Pearl Jam made a 13 yr old boy exstatic hearing this song live. He was screaming the words and wants to give Jeff his Lew rookie card as a thanks. One of our most memorable moments of many.

    By the way, in those lyrics, it should be "Power High" with a capital "H." It is a reference to Power Memorial High School, the now-closed high school in New York City where Lew Alcindor first made his name.

    You are correct. My brother-in-laws brother coached BB there many years ago and that's how he got the card. If you're out there Jeff, let us know where to send it.
