We came across this wreck on a former logging road that had been cleared an paved for new development. It used to be, and still is to a degree, a fairly isolated area. I said to hubby, "Hmm, I wonder if they found a body in there when they cleared the area?" :?

what is the reddish stuff on the tree?
here in oz we call that a bottlebrush(callistemon) tree. our native parrots love them.

One thing that's interesting about the red parts is that they are incredibly soft even though they don't look like they would be.
