What if the downloadable concerts from the "Vault" . . .

ARE FROM THE '08/'09 BOOTLEGS?!?!?!  :o   Now stay with me here. I know this is all conjecture, (kind of a mental masturbation so to speak), but it kinda makes sense. As we've all see by now, if you buy BACKSPACER at Target, indie stores, iTunes, and most likely 10Club, you get two full concert downloads. iTunes specifically says "Once the album is released you'll be able to download two full concerts for free from pearljam.com" One would assume this would be from the same "Vault" that would be available to the people purchasing from Target, indie stores, or 10Club. It wouldn't seem like a stretch that since pearljam.com is where they're getting them from that they be from what is currently available on pearljam.com (i.e. 2008 and when they start to become available 2009 bootlegs). One would also conjecture it would be the "Download" version only and that it would be some kind of coupon system that the consumer would redeem. Other than the lost revenue of people actually paying the $14.99 per show, this wouldn't really cost them much to offer and when you look at the cost per show, it's really giving the fans a lot of bang for the buck. Why wouldn't you buy a copy from 10Club, Target, and iTunes if you look at the cost of each bootleg show in comparison?
We will all have to wait and see which version the fan makes out best with but if it ends up being what I've described above, then just remember . . .you heard it here first! We now return you to regularly scheduled Forum.

I dunno, when they say from the vault I always think they are referring to older shows. I can see your logic, but I doubt it would be difficult for them to set up an independent link to the vault shows and a seperate one for the recent bootlegs.

Oh, I know it wouldn't be difficult for them to have a seperate link for other shows to download but one can always hope, right? :)

I assume it would be alright to trade these shows with others, right? Like, if there are 10 shows to choose from and you can get two, and another person gets two different ones, then you can trade for the shows you didn't choose.
    4/30/03, 7/5/03, 7/6/03, 7/8/03, 7/9/03, 7/11/03, 7/12/03, 7/14/03, 9/28/04, 9/29/04, 10/1/04, 9/30/05, 10/1/05, 10/3/05, 5/4/06 (Letterman Mini-Concert), 5/5/06, 5/27/06, 5/28/06, 6/1/06, 6/3/06, 6/19/08, 6/20/08, 6/24/08, 6/25/08, 6/27/08, 6/28/08, 6/30/08, 10/27/09, 10/28/09, 10/30/09, 10/31/09, 5/15/10, 5/18/10, 5/20/10, 5/21/10
  • It'd be great if they opened the vault so one could download older shows but I also think it'll be for the 08/09 shows. At least that's the impression I got when they announced the 2009 bootlegs and said "Not all shows available." I figured the shows "not available" could only be accessed with the special download code that comes with the album. Who knows...

The Target discs will link to a virtual "vault" of 11 concerts spanning Pearl Jam's career, from which fans can choose two.

What's the sound quality of these things gonna be? I'd love a really good sounding 1996 recording in there.

Calm down, dude. I was just asking what the source was gonna be. Soundboards? Good audience recordings? I want the vault to creek back open just as much as you or the next guy but that Academy 1992 vault show they released was no better than the bootleg I had for years.

    Your automated response:
Who cares about the sound quality? Just be grateful that Pearl Jam cares enough about their fans to offer this!!! I can't stand people on this board!
