Just got done listening to Supersonic, the studio version, about ten times in a row and love it. Freakin Love it. I challenge you to put it on and not want to run around the house. Great tempo and the bridge is something I might here in a Zep tune. Love it. Can't wait to hear the whole album.

Yeah, I know. Almost like the Heartbreaker riff played in reverse! I'm a geezer and was around in the 70's listening to music and big riffs were the game back then. Glad to see one now.

Other big riffs, Zep, The Ocean, Sabbath, Sweet Leaf, Supernaut, Iron Man, Deep Purple, Smoke on the Water, Stones, Can't you hear me knowking...
Up here so high I start to shake, Up here so high the sky I scrape, I've no fear but for falling down, So look out below I am falling now, Falling down,...not staying down, Could’ve held me up, rather tear me down, Drown in the river
  • I didn't like it when I first heard it but I've since listened to it a bunch more times and I really love it. Out of the 5 songs I've heard off the album it's probably my second favorite. My favorite being The End. But damn supersonic is freaking awesome!

It's very Pearl Jam they just haven't done anything that funky in awhile. It sounds like Mother Love Bone/Glorified G/Satan's Bed era riffing.

Pop music? Would you consider Spin the Black Circle pop?

It sounds like a Ramones song. Hardly dance floor music. More like head thrashing music.

Have you heard all the clips of Backspacer? It sounds nothing like Avocado.. and Avocado was AWESOME! Check yourself.

I don't get how thew s/t can possibly be called a disappointment after Riot Act anyway.

This is clearly going to be one of their best albums in years. Not to mention the band feels the same way. Great song.

I think Riot Act and Avocado are two of their best works.

If I was stuck on a desert island I'd take Riot Act and Avocado over No Code and Yield without hesitation.

When I got mine on Saturday I immediately put it on and this is exactly what my 3 1/2 year old did. He loved it. I couldn't help but run around the house with him. :)

  • Ah punky PJ, I really dig it, good bridge 1 1/2 minutes in....

...It's Spin the Black Circle's younger brother...Also a perfect B-Side to The Fixer.

I would not call it punk. I LOVE IT and can't stop playing it. However it reminds me of 70's arena rock, ala say Bob Seger and the Coors Light Band.

  • Spin the Black Circle is pure balls...
One of the big differences between the two tracks is the way it was recorded. Additionally, there is an "edge" / "harshness" feel to StBC. Backspacer is ...like I said...snap my fingers.

S/T is far too poppy of a record. It was recorded too damn clean. There is no atmosphere, no mood.
It is just right down the center...a happy meatball, over the plate for all to enjoy.

    sorry mang.
They can't please us all....all the time.

I've got an hour left at work until I can listen to this puppy. If it has any of the funky feel of the above-mentioned songs I will be a very happy man. And especially if it has that Mother Love Bone feel... always wished they would incorporate a but more of that from time to time.

I just like the variety. To me Riot Act is a very dark and personal record. It couldn't be complimented better by the optimistic, fun record that Backspacer seems to be turning out to be.
