Two minute of Silence in "Guaranteed"

I was just silencing to "Guaranteed" from Into the Wild. I noticed there was 2 minutes of silence in the song from 2:38 and then the song begins again at 4:40. Has Vedder ever explained why he did this?

The two pieces were used separately in the movie (Into The Wild).

The hidden one is just humming right? The humming one is played a different points in the film (usually when the sister is narrating, i think)...and the normal version has its own scene too.

Loads of the studio albums have hidden tracks, it is kinda weird when its the same song that just finished
