They should remix Avocado first.

Since it's their worst sounding album. The production really kills this album, the songs live are so much better. Anyway do you think they will remix this album at some point?

Unless there is a massive uprising against this whole "Loudness" thing, and all bands go back and remix all of their albums from recent years, that is.

I think Avocado sounds pretty good. Their worst sounding album has to be Binaural! The songs are great but they sound like they were recorded in a bin! I would love to hear a better mix of this album
    “Do not postpone happiness”
    (Jeff Tweedy, Sydney 2007)

“Put yer good money on the sunrise”
    (Tim Rogers)

It's not the production, it's the mastering and when the new reissues come out the digital versions are all gonna sound like S/T and Ten redux.

SOME songs on Binaural are incredible, some arent great. But ive come to love them that way now so i wouldnt want to change that album. But hey, if a remix comes out, i can still listen to the original!

Breakerfall is the one that stands out most: live it is a BEAST of a song, but on the album it sounds restrained and muffled. the other stuff mostly sounds incredible.

Light Years, NAIS, Parting Ways, Grievance, Insignificance and Sleight Of Hand are some of the best produced songs on PJ albums imo!

Well, the original post in this thread came in 2008.  I've always felt "Avocado" was very harsh-sounding.  My question is what are the big differences in the Brendan O'Brien 2017 remix.  I'm bummed that the remix was never made available on CD.  I have the remix on vinyl and on Spotify, but I honestly can't tell a huge difference.  Any audiophiles care to enlighten?

I've really liked Brendan's production with Pearl Jam, especially Vs. and Yield.  Even lesser albums like Backspacer and Lightning Bolt, I think you can't fault the production.  From what I can decipher in his limited interviews on the topic, I think he's taken direction from the band, for better or worse, on a couple occasions where it wasn't necessarily what he would've chosen.  I thought Vs. was flawless prodcution... and Vitalogy is still very good, but I think the band wanted maybe a "drier" sound (drum sound?) how he explained it.

Anyways, long story short, wondering what he did to "self-titled"?
