UK Vs US shows..

So from the posts here it seems that most US shows have seats on the floor? Which I find really weird as UK venues all have standing GA on the floor, does this affect the atmosphere/energy. I have only ever been to shows with standing so have no idea? The atmosphere down the front at O2 was unreal, I just can't imagine it being the same if all seater?

Yeah, I think it's a safety issue/code in the states to have seats on the floor but at least shit doesn't get all crazy and people pushing forward. Although no one was using them to sit. As I am getting a little older I like the seats on the floor as it's just a little safer.

I've been to both so here are my 2 cents about it.

American shows, it was great to chill in the parking lot until 5 seconds before the show starts as you have your tickets and seat already. Okay maybe not 5 seconds...Even though i think people still sung good, there was certainly less movement, perhaps due to there being physical chairs in the way and maybe there being more old people with the better seats as they have been in the fan club longer or just the fat, american lazy way ;p

European shows are nice because it allows very young people like me who don't have the best number (not that a number is any use here anyway) to get front row (even though its a bloody pain queueing from 7am!) as long as you put in the effort and queue, there are people who still get to the front by pushing or via other means but if you get a good queue in you got some pretty low chance of not getting a great spot. Because there are no chairs etc here, you can jump around and the crowd is way more wild. Even with this advantage, it can get very rough, pushy and squishy depening on which country the show is in, so its your risk.

On the other hand if here were seats i would get great seats anyway as there arn't as many 10c members here in Europe than there are in the USA.

    I think thats everything.

Hey I am 31 and still get to the front ;)

I wonder how it changes the bands enjoyment of the show..

It's not that, its because if you are 31, then you may have a lower 10c number than me because iam 19, thus i can get to the front by queueing, not because of the fact that i have been around longer than people and joined the 10c earlier which isn't my fault and cant do anything about it.

Talking if we were in USA obv...

So if people want a good spot bad enough they gotta earn it (well, hopefully, and not by not being a dick). Equal chance i guess.....

I would say it would guarantee them seeing different faces at each of the shows when there's GA, but I'd say their sick of seeing the same faces front row at GA shows too

There are pro's and con's to both. I prefer GA, but thats cos I know how it works.

The most noticable difference between UK and US shows is that UK fans with standing GA tickets don't have to post thread after thread on here whining about how shitty their seats are...

i have had the opportunity to attent both uk, and usa shows, and i guess its right that if you have your seat you don't need to rush in, and you don't get crushed, and the shows i've seen, have been amazing.... BUT, there is just a better atmosphere, with the standing gigs in my opinion, fair play it can get a bit squished, but the jumping up and down together etc, and i think the band plays better off of that.

so fo me i say uk

As I get older, I prefer the seats. GA is very cool but it's nice to be able to sip on a beer instead of having a bunch of smelly armpits mushed upon you. If you are under 28 then GA is the way to go.

I always found the biggest difference between the two was that in the UK people weren't very concerned about what colour Ed's pants were, whereas in the US the color seems to make a difference.

thank you. i am 40 and queued and got the rail at every euro show i attended. it;s not all about young/old. there are pluses/minuses to both arrangements, and i think overall we most prefer the method we are most accustomed to. i enjoy GA, but not for every show i attend. it was great fun in europe but i also was on holiday. here at home i just don't have the time to queue all day for every show i attend, so i far rather know my seat location in advance, or in the case of pj....just knowing i have 10c tix is good enough for me. i really enjoy the added surprise element with the lottery system nowadays, and while it might appear like Us shows aren't as energetic, having been to many of both.....they certainly ARE. appearances can be deceiving. ;) as long as you are AT a pj show....GA or seated...it's all good! 8-)

i DO believe the energy of a show has a HUGE effect on the band, and again....GA or seated.....both crowds can whip the band into a frenzy. i remember in 2003 at MSG when we made the stage floor shake  ed LOVED it!
    Stay with me...
    Let's just breathe...

I am myself like you somehow
