    Thanks for the (non-german) link!

...I'm not sure what to think. Is this the "commercial" they filmed? It certainly looks like people who were paid to jump in place.

BTW - My girlfriend said to me tonight "I think I heard a new pearl jam song on the radio, but I wasn't sure if it was them because it was so poppy". ...yup, pop music it almost is.
ADD 5,200 to the post count you see, thank you. :)

    uhhhhhh... no.

but the video was fine accept for the cheap crowd noise. somehow i dont think it would be improved by using ten club members in the audience. ;)

    Let's hope so anyway.

As of right now, with the Fixer, they're poppier than a bunch of giggly pre-teen girls. Especially with that video.

Did u not see "Got Some" from the Conan premiere? I dare you to call that pop. That song sounds more like the punk sound on Vs.

Fixer is poppy, Got Some is not.

nah there would be 100000 people in the audience and Ed would be singing from a starship.
  • Well that certainly is The Showbox.

    That was pretty craptastic.

From the first 30 second clip I heard of the Fixer, I thought it sounded like a song in a Target commercial. I mean, that's not a bad thing or a good thing, it just is what it is.

Definitely looks like the Showbox and fake actors.

Like a fight scene in Transformers. "What the fuck is happening"?

The only thing missing is strobe lights..... :|
  • this isnt really a great compliment, well not really a compliment at all, but this is the second best video behind DTE.

Love the song. Like the video alright.

I don't really see what all the fuss is about. It's only 'pop' in the sense that any PJ recording is popular music as opposed to classical music. It's catchy and upbeat but that adds variety to the catalog, and it's a hell of a fun song. It still manages to have a heavy sound. (no poppier than a lot of Ramones songs, Danzig's "Mother", Soundgarden's "Spoonman" etc.). In the 10-minute 'making of' Backspacer promo, Eddie talked about getting over the idea that all of his lyrics have to be three-dimensional, have double meanings etc. That being said I think/hope a few of these songs are gonna be reminiscent of his work on Into the Wild, which in my opinion is some of the most poignant work he's ever written.

I personally like "Got Some" better, but I think The Fixer was a better choice as a single. Mainstream radio has gotten so used to glossy production, even The Fixer sounds too raw for most people's tastes.

As far as the video. I see nothing "phoney" about it. Sounds like a live recording of it. The only complaint I agree with is the canned applause/crowd noise.

oh no... not a fan of this one.

a tour montage showing the band in good spirits traveling around would've worked more for me and suited the song.

  • im not really sure what people expected from a Fixer video and Target commercial. neither screams authentic Pearl Jam experience to me.

i doubt anyone outside of heavy PJ fans would ever notice the crowd in this vid. this video is definitely not for the people on this board. they already have you!

Anyone know how those people got into that show? I paused the video to see if I recognized anyone there..but, with the exception of one of the Rockfords (lol) no one. I think I read somewhere that they were thinking of inviting local 10C members, but decided not to.....Bummer!
