The problem with your response is that he does know about the products based on their system.
And I guarantee you that the Rock Band listing for 29.99 is the CD+download code. Nothing at all related to the project slated for next year. That's exactly what Metallica did with Death Magnetic at Best Buy.0 -

Yeah, pearljam_addiction, don't worry at all about him. He trolled a thread when I confirmed PJ in Philly... he didn't like that I called the box office once, and that they told me "yes", and tried to make a thing about it.

Why is everyone okay with PJ teaming up with Target. If you wanna do an exclusive release and make a stand, have it exclusively in the mom and pop stores and the 10C web site. Why didn't they exclude all the mainstream stores? That would be something the Pearl Jam I know would do.
Plus, now I read all these people that are gonna buy two just for the t-shirt. The 10C members should get first class treatment, especially if you pre-order it. This means we get the T-shirt too. I feel like we also should have had a heads up on the PJ/Target relationship. I am part of this club because I want to keep up with whats going on with the band and to hear about a major partnership (in my eyes) over the radio first...the 10C should be on top of things and POST THE NEWS!
Please respond and let me know why no one else is questioning this partnership.0 -

It's been questioned, but TC has made an announcement about it. Their "exclusive" with Target isn't quite exclusive. Target is their Big Box "partner". They are also going to be selling thru mom-and-pops as you recommend, and also directly... and I would have to imagine also on iTunes. So... there's 4 avenues to buy this thing.ADD 5,200 to the post count you see, thank you.

first off, this topic has been beaten to death & discussed over & over again. but here's my take on it:
in order to distribute their record, they need a larger vehicle to help with distribution. in the past, it was their label that did this. now, they are free from their contract & have control over how their music/merch is distributed. before, Sony/Epic had the majority of the control in terms of marketing, advertising, merchandising, etc. in order to still be able to reach those places that don't have a mom & pop store (like where i live), they need some help. enter Target. Target provides the distribution, advertising with the bands' input. Pearl Jam has more control over their music & everything that goes along with it more than they ever have. they obviously did their homework & shopped the idea around to other big box stores & from what it sounds like, non of the other stores wanted to allow the band to sell the record at those independent mom & pop stores---they wanted sole distribution rights. but Target like the idea. on top of that, the Target Corp gives millions of dollars every year to charities that sit well with the band & it's company philosophy. remember...they're a band..first & foremost always about the music. but music is a BUSINESS. and like any other business, you need to protect yourself & the value of your work. make sense?I LOVE MUSIC.

I know it has been beat to death but I wanted to take time to digest the news and see what others thought, and I have heard these arguments before. I am also aware that music is a business, but I think they have made "unpopular" choices before and that they don't need a "larger vehicle". There are no mom and pop stores where I live either, but they have the web site. I also agree that if they had to choose, Target was the best choice since they donate to charities and they allowed them to not be "exclusive" therefore I don't dare call them "sell-outs", but it is borderline with me.
I appreciate your input, but I still feel like I am the only one left with a sour taste in my mouth. They are still and always will be my favorite band. I just feel like they could have made a bigger stand.0 -

I wouldn't call them sellouts for the Target deal.
However, for them having "Bud Light presents Pearl Jam" as well as the Verizon Wireless screens on two parts of the stage, and fliers of the Verizon Wireless logo and their photo on it... well, yeah, that's pretty much selling out.
