Given To Frame??? WRU
Hey folks.
I recently acquired PJ Borgata (Red, and Pink). I saw a really neat frame job (shown below). Problem is, apparently this is done with a computer program to cut the matte, and no regular framer around me can do it. I went to the only place around that owns this computer program thing; called a Wizard, and they are too busy to get it done in the next 4 months.
Where is the guy that used to run GivenToFrame.com? Anyone have any other suggestions? I live in South Jersey. Anyone in the relative area know of any place? Also, I am heading out to Vegas to stay with my Dad for a month or two...Any places out there that anyone knows of?

He returned money and unframed prints to a lot of people, not sure what happened in his personal life, but ... I'm sure it's not all good. :(

You know what? In addition to being on this board, I'm also on a framing board as well.
Tell me the area you are in, and I can post the info there, and I'm sure a framer with a CMC will tell me, and I can refer you to their shop.

I live in Northfield, NJ. Atlantic City area.
Atlantic County.
Cool, I'll post your info there, and do me a favor and PM me tomorrow and I'll check there to see if there's any replies.
Edit - Posted your info. Contact me tomorrow if you don't hear from me. People on that board are usually pretty quick to respond, and I think more than 50% of them have a CMC.
BTW, when you're calling frame shops, refer to it as a "computerized mat cutter". Wizard is a brand name, but there's also Fletcher Valani, Eclipse and others. They'll know what you mean if you say Wizard, but still, call it a "computerized mat cutter".

From what I hear it costs like 400/month to lease or something, and isn't economical for the small-time framers.
Wizard in particular has a beginner program, a certain number of "corner" and the machine for $125 a month (which doesn't cover too many mats), plus $500 for the CMC to be shipped... plus program licensing... and more. For the 2 mats a year I need a CMC for, that's the one thing I outsource to one of my suppliers for. With your project, it's more than a basic cut, so you do need a CMC.
If by tomorrow I don't find someone in AC, I'll put up another thread about Vegas and see if anyone is nearby to you there.

very cool! Who thought of the idea on the matting? I love that.
It was my framer's idea. He's a local artist as well as a framer -- a very creative guy. He came up with the idea, and of course I jumped at the chance of trying something different. It worked out really well.
who and where is ur framer. I would like to send him some prints.
I just found a framer with a computer matte cutter, and it's gonna run me ~250. Yikes.
For that kind of work, $250 is not bad at all.
I've framed small things for $50 and I've framed nice oil paintings for $2,500, and everything in between. $250 for a very specialized item like that is within a reasonable range.
